Oh THAT kind of spam!

I thought you meant the other kind. It's not all that bad. :heyhey: Try it sliced and grilled with BBQ sauce, or fried with brown sugar. Heh. We used to eat it all the time when we went camping or backpacking. It's cheap, it doesn't need refrigeration, and those cans are practically indestructible.

A couple times in remote areas, it was ALL we had left. The other food was long gone.

had spam for the very first time only a few weeks ago and will never ever have it again (unless stuck on a desert island and then there better be some kind of coconut garnish)

If you'd lived through WW2 like me, when a weeks meat ration was 2 ounces a person, you'd have loved spam. It was never rationed, and a lot of merchant sailors risked and lost their lives bringing it over from America so we wouldn't starve. Mothers in those days knew how to do wonderful things with it whereas today Mom is satisfied with getting the kid a happy meal from Mickey Ds. It's still very popular in Hawaii by the way.

Not something I've had for a long time! Trying not to show my age here (over 40 but under 50 to save speculation) but I remember them doing spam fritters at school. Don't seem to remember it being that bad.

Aye, Spam Fritters were better than those dodgy 'grey' sausages they used to try to foist on you...

I've never seen grey sausages since school dinners so god only knows what they were made from.

Never had spam the food, but people who send email spam should be lined up and shot, in the head at close range with an UZI 9MM IMO.

I hate it, ever since i was in the Infants, my class was on last sitting for school lunch. That was all that was left, wasnt even any potatoes im sure, and it was a warm day and it had gone all sweaty and the dinner lady made me eat it all! I swear i was almost sick, never had school dinners after that day!!
