Hi
I'm new to the site. I lived on Broomspring lane and went to Springfield school from 1965 to 1969, the headteacher was Miss Hobson, remember Miss Bailey, Mrs Round and Mrs Lydamore. My mum was dinner there in infants (Mrs Lampitt) then went to High Storrs.

i was brought up on bath st 1938/ until i married in march 1961 my mum and dad moved in the summer of '61 then the area was demolished.in the '40s and 50s there were hundreds of homes in the broomhall area including dozens of small factories cutlery, silverware, tool makers, there werea lot of what were known as little mesters( one man cutlery makers) interwoven in between the houses, there were also pubs, butchers, grocers, bakers, all manner of things in fact broomhall was like a little town in a town. i also went to Springfield school from 1943/53, then i worked at Surmanco from 53/56 then 59/64.where i met my wife Jean.there was a family that lived on william st who worked there called Keys there were Jean (mitchell),pam, norma, i think they had two boys also, one was trevor, we knocked around together with trevor for a while when we were younger there is a post on this thread (springfield school 1943/53.
I knew two girls who went o Springfield school in the 50's. Elaine Gibbs lived on Gell St(?) and Dian Smith who lived on Brunswick street. They then went to Greysones Sec Modern school.
