A lady has just rung me looking for boarding for a cat with 6 kittens. She is on income support and has no money.

Her cat has had 6 kittens just as her council house is being torn apart by builders (new windows, kitchen, electrics....etc).

If needs be I'll take them in to the cattery FOC but I'd rather find something more suitable.

So desperately seeking foster mother for cat and 6 kittens, prefereably in the Heeley, Arbourthorne, upper meersbrook area.

Cat has not been innoculated! I'm going round later to check the cats out, she has no transport for PDSA and cannot afford a vet.

Let us know if you don't get her sorted, we may know someone who can help with them.
Also, I can get a neutering voucher for the cat once she has had the kittens off her and can be neutered.

I'd love to be able to offer to take them, but the foster cat I currently have here is a flu carrier and it would have to be a dire emergency for me to willingly expose tinies to that if there was any alternative.

I have offered to take them providing me being in Woodhouse is not a problem. I haven't heard back from heavenlyarts yet, but they have my phone number in case they need to get in touch and I'm not online. Obviously I'd prefer the poor things not to need a foster mummy at all, but if worst comes to worst I would be more then happy to take them on until they are ready to go to their forever homes:)

An update.

Been to see the lady and there are further complications that it would be unfair of me to elaborate on publicly.

I need to find someone close to Heeley as she wants to visit her cat regularly, she absolutely dotes on it and is hearbroken at the stuation she finds herself in.

I don't really want to take her in to the cattery, I have other cats around and the mum is not vaccinated, this also affects the immunity of the kittens. I'd have to barrier nurse them, changing clothes before every visit would be a pain. This would also tie up my quarantine unit which is not ideal as it would be for 10 weeks.

I personally think the optimum solution is for the cat to stay at home, there must be a quite spot somewhere, I've been unable to pursuade the owner of this.

Suggestions or advice welcome.

Life would be so much easier if I just said no to these hardship cases ;)

Good luck finding someone close by. I do feel sorry for the lady but my offer still stands if you can't find anyone else and she decides to be slightly more leniant in her criteria for a foster mummy:)

Is she wanting the mother back after the kittens have gone to their forever homes? If so a few weeks apart will be hard, but she doesn't really have that much choice if she is adamant she wants the kittens out of the house whilst the rennovation takes place. I really hope someone suitable is found, it would be much better for them to spend their first weeks in a home environment rather then in a cattery, but I'm preaching to the converted, you know that already :hihi: Good luck!

It's a shame she cant isolate the mum n kittens in a large dog crate or somewhere where they'll be safe from all the turmoil.
