Daddy,
That's a nice kennel, the cat photo finished it off for me - very cute. My girl has a very simple kennel in the back garden but then she's only ever out there with us and rarely uses it so it would be no good for me. That said, I'm sure dogs that are kept outside for longer periods would love it.

A few questions/comments (not intended to be negative):

- I'm not an expert on felines but it looks like it'd make a fab cat house for people who don't like cat flaps. The prop that holds the door open looks like it'd make a ladder to the roof like you get on posh cat houses.

- How durable is it? What's the flooring made out of? Is it guaranteed?

- Have you taken safety steps, e.g. to ensure the flap doesn't fall down?

- How about putting in a wall attachment for water and food bowls?

I think it looks fabulous and there are people out there who in good weather keep their dogs outside during the day sometimes because the dogs just like being outside.

I would love and have room for a kennel in my garden but would want it for emergency use for rescue's or overnight stays whilst travelling somewhere or short term foster. So i would want something more secure and with the potentail to have a run attachment. OH on the otherhand says no way and no more dogs grrrrrr.

I think they do look good but would want to know the flooring and roof was durable and everything was safe and wipeable.

Good idea though and if you are wanting to do this i wish you success as it would be nice if their were affordable custom made options out there for people.

The kennels are great, I know that they are for dogs but would you consider making scaled a down version for cats? I think that might be quite good too :)
I think that they might also perhaps need a bit more weather proofing and as Adz says perhaps a little more secure... no reason why the owner couldn't put flooring of choice in it though, and build on a run mmm they are great!

I wouldn't be interested purely because of lack of space, but if you feel competent to discuss different sizes, materials and finishes with potential customers and to estimate and price the job effectively and fairly then I could see it possibly being a money spinner for you although your market sector is quite small.

I'd make the most out of the potential by having half a dozen proper scale drawings made up of basic designs and sizes, for which you have costed properly the bare materials and labour. You can add to, or take away from, this cost as part of your estimate.

I said it before but I'll say it again The Daddy, I think you did a grand job on that kennel and I'm sure you'd have some interest if you offered to build bespoke accommodation for other canines. Of course, the daft dobermutt would refuse to go in one but that's only because she is an indoor attention seeking velcro hound who prefers the sofa and the king sized tempur mattress to anything a proper dog should be sleeping on.

Hi, dont worry about asking questions:).
All questions are welcome:)
-The door you see is a puppy door for if you have a bitch thats ready to drop. The ladder isnt a permanent fixture, its just there to show it open. The door is intended to make access easier if there are any puppy problems and is locked using a barrel lock when not in use.

-Its made to last and is very heavy. Havent thought about a garentee but im confident enough to offer to fix ANY defects with no problems at all. Also, if your not happy with it then i dont expect you to pay for it:)

-The flap can be easily secured with a fitted rod. Its just that i didnt need this feature on mine so i left it out.

-It has a double skinned wall with full insulation and is very comfortable.
I know cos i fell asleep in there:D

-Any wall attachemts can be easily fitted and adjustmenmts made to the designs to incorporate them properly.

- The floor is made from 2" x "2 pine then covered with 6mm PTGV and then hard wearing lino is layed and then secured using glue and carpet gripper (the ones that usualy go in a door way between 2 carpets)

- The roof is made from half inch thick chipborad then sealed and it has a very good quality fooring felt on top.

Thanks for asking as i really should have put these details down im my op:blush:
Thanks again:):)

Wow, I'm really impressed. I hadn't thought of the puppy thing as I don't breed - just thought it was an alternative access. I'd say another good selling point is that it would make cleaning easier.

Tying in with what Medusa said, I think you need a website - something that shows your work and where you can detail all the options.

Thats REALLY nice ... your quite the craftsman arnt you? ... i have no need for a kennel, but if i did, that would be perfect (I love the picture hanging on the wall:)_

If your considering doing this as a business, why not advertise catterys and rabbit hutches too (Im sure if you can build a kennel to that standard cattery or hutch would be a walk in the park)

are you taking orders for kennels now? (Just incase anyone mentions to me they need one)

Hi Daddy
I have seen your handy work on another thread when you first made it. I would be interested in a smaller version for my rabbits. The are currently in a large run ( about 5 x 6foot) and I want a comfy house for them, my current one is a bit battered.
