Well, having rashly shown an interest in a meet, I thought I'd better air some of my previous efforts to the group and see what you guys make of them :(
Don't be gentle - I need some constructive criticism, and some good pointers if I'm going to make the most of taking part in this group ;)

and a 360 stitched panoramic:

Some promising looking pics there, but I'm struggling to get a pic to sit still / big enough to have a decent look at it :(
My observation would be that the images seem too centred. Placing the main point of interest in the middle is rarely a good thing.
The simplest compostional thing to consider is the rule of thirds.

Like all rules, it can be broken, but you have to know it, to break it!
is this a better format DaFoot?

Oo - that's an interesting link :)
can I ask you to go back and look where my horizons and such elements as dry stone walls appear in many of my shots though? ;)
Is it possible to turn the reflection off that is on at the bottom of each photo in the first link you had ? I think that may be affecting the way we see the 'thirds' in the image by extending each photo a bit and shifting the lines to somewhere else in the image, making your eye look in the wrong place perhaps.
There was a great link to the rule of thirds above. Good one here (http://photoinf.com/General/KODAK/guidelines_for_better_photographic_composition_int roduction.html) too that could be worth looking at. Lots of nice photo examples :)
sorry Grissom - I can't turn that off - it's part of Photobucket's slideshow, but I've provided the link to the gallery page too now - so you can see the pics individually - you're right - that reflection is rather annoying :suspect:
That's a handy link - thank you :)
Framing is what I was experimenting with in a couple of those pictures - but it was my first attempt, and I'm not convinced it was completely successful - though I do like how the gate came out framed by the tree to the right
