THis came through to me from the University's general mailing concerns a Police investigation in to a serious assault on a 19-year-old man in a nightclub in Sheffield are appealing for information from the public and for any witnesses to come forward.
The incident took place around 2am on Tuesday 19th February 2008 at the Embrace nightclub on Burgess Street in Sheffield. The 19-year-old man was stood with his girlfriend on the balcony above the main dance floor close to the toilets when a man has walked into them. A heated discussion took place, resulting in the 19-year-old being punched in the face. A group of four to five men have then approached and assaulted the complainant further. The 19-year-old has then managed to get away from the group and walk back to the balcony. As a result of the incident he sustained a deep cut to his left arm, which required emergency surgery.
One man is described as Asian, in his late teens, between 5ft 9ins and 5ft 10ins tall, and of slim to average build. He had styled well-groomed spiky black hair. He was wearing a black V-neck long sleeved jumper.
The second man is described as white, approximately 20 years old, approximately 5ft 6ins tall, and of medium build, with short black hair brushed to the left. He was wearing a white hooded top with blue stripes.
