I am looking to join a gym to supplement mma training.

I would like it to have decent free weights, power rack etc - I'm not bothered about weight machines or cardio stuff in this instance, or plasma screens, or wi fi hotspots!

Reasonably priced would be nice too. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Virgin active is over the road from me but really doesn't appeal.

Try The Max at Walkley. Don't have the number to hand but it should be in the phone book. It's privately owned - not part of the big leisure chains. Kay is the manager, I'm sure she'd be happy to show you round.

You could try Virgin Gym although the stories about binding contracts and the floating poo in the Poolhas put me right off it now !
