Hi, Is this possible? I have read somewhere that you can make your own shakes using milk powder and different flavours as the milk gives lots of protein. Thanks

I have read somewhere that you can make your own shakes using milk powder and different flavours as the milk gives lots of protein. Thanks xafier 19-03-2005, 16:53 milk itself has plenty of protein in it, powered milk isnt any different... but most protein shakes are made up with milk anyways, so you get the protein of the milk along with the powder... you could just drink about 5 or 6 pints a day of milk, but trust me, drinking too much milk makes your gut feel weird and your mouth all gammy, not to mention you need the toilet a lot :? plus you'll find protein power mixes contain all the different types of amino acids that your muscles need, whereas milk on its own doesn't contain them all, and its only something like 20g of protein per pint I believe? suzyoo 22-03-2005, 00:53 HI, i know im a bit out of date with this reply, theres a really good spirulina soy protein drink in holland and barretts, its £10 but a big 906g tin that lasts ages. its really good for you and better than the slimfast muck! Its low fat, low carb, each scoop has 14 grams of soya protein. you can mix it with milk or juice, i use soy milk, its quite thick and filling i have it for breakfast and except for some fruit at 3pm i work all day till 5pm on it. theres loads of vits and minerals in it. please dont think im being rude, If your trying to save money on food this is as good as anything but dont forget your veggies! its very economical to make a bean/pulse stew/casserole thatll last a couple of days, put lots of veg and an onion for flavour in it, buy a bag of pulses and chuck some in too, get a wholemeal loaf to dip in, itll fill u up and warm your cockles ( old yorkshire saying not rude ;0) |
