Mike Bisping's stand up coach always referees all the AFK kickboxing nights.
Dave Jackson is a good mate of mine.
Theres about 30 places.
But with the 3 clubs moving in the places are been take quickly.

yorkie030 07-04-2008, 10:19 Sounds good to me John, I'll be there & good luck with your new MA center!

SaladCream 11-04-2008, 18:57 Hi pal im just wanting some info on this seminar and bjj classes at gracie barra if you could please. First of all im a complete beginner when it comes to bjj, I've done kickboxing before but not for a year or so. I've always wanted to start but with work commitments have found it very hard to, but with the opening of The Forge and this seminar it was the kick up the arse i needed. First question about gracie classes is that sunday is the only one i will be able to make for the time being but notice that this is a gi class, would a begineer be able to attend this class and also how soon would i need to buy a gi, also will the class times be changing much when you move to the new venue. Second question, im really interested in attending the seminar depending on places left but wondered if my lack of bjj experience would be a problem. Thank you in advance and sorry for all the questions.

SaladCream 12-04-2008, 19:16 I used to train with blackdragons a couple of years ago, I fought on farhad's show again a couple of years ago, against a welsh guy k-1 rules.

UFC 85 is in London...
bins2112 28-04-2008, 18:43 I know about UFC 85 in London, but i noticed a thread on another mma website stating that Sheffield is rumoured to be a venue for a future UFC event.
Link? First I've heard of it but I wouldn't be surprised. Hallam FM is just the right size.
BarraGergus 04-05-2008, 15:13 thanks to everyone who turned up, it was a great seminar...... even with mr bispings car trouble.

How many times have you said that on this thread?
Thanks to John for organising this, it was an excellent seminar - learned a fair bit and had loads of fun!!
Hilary Bris 04-05-2008, 16:41 Yes Thanks for arranging it John, it was a great seminar, really enjoyed it, & Mike Bisping was great, really humble, down to earth & really knew his stuff. I knew he had a good ground game but surprised to see just how good he was. If your planning on anything else like this let us know m8, i'll certainly be there :D

Loads of times Carcass, why dont you pop along and see what a REAL kickboxing show is for yourself ? :D
By real i mean a show where you will actually see proper fights with KO's!!!
Sorry Farhad, your obnoxious spamming and thread-hijacking has guaranteed that I WON'T be attending an AFK show, "proper fights" or no.
No problem guys it was my pleasure:D
Was one of the best seminars I've been on or arranged. He was a true gent and showed some great stuff.
Enjoyed the roll with him too, even if I did wait till he was knacked!!!!:hihi:
Looking forward to seeing who I can get next.
Just out of interest Farad are you saying that what Mike does or what I do and teach isnt real fighting??

Total misunderstanding Truebjj what mike does (MMA etc) is F***ing brutal!
I meant proper kickboxing as opposed to semi contact. Come to think of it, this has been posted on the wrong thread. LOL

Right ok , im really going to lose sleep over this :hihi:.
AFK shows are always full and this next one will be with or without you.
No one ever complained when you slated castle BBA and made obnoxious comments about them so i guess people living in glasshouses should not throw stones?
anyone who doesn't have something to say about the Bisping seminar should say it in another thread. All the b!tching is making this one look cheap and it shouldn't. I know its cliche to say we're all martial artists so should get along but come on guys, stop being childish. Kickboxing isn't BJJ and BJJ isn't MMA. We should all agree that MMA is the most complete MA and the reason is because it encompasses areas of both styles! We're all just cogs in the machine!
It was a great seminar and everyone who attended enjoyed it. Thanks again to John for sorting it. I can't remember having as much fun at a seminar. Mike was a top bloke and id recommend other clubs booking him for one. This imaginary stigma between clubs shouldn't stop guys training with the best. Im sure he's available to anyone who wants to book him.
Incidentally this stigma seems to be created by mostly students of clubs and not instructors. If we all wanna revert to the old days and run around doing challenge matches then crack on but thats never gonna really happen so everyone should just carry on enjoying whatever training they wanna do and leave it at that.
I urge everyone to have fun at their next class and just get on the mats and in the ring and have fun. Sitting behind a computer saying how great you are is taking time away from you being in the one place thats actually gonna make you better - the gym!!
So shut up and have fun training!!:)

Bisping is a rated fighter who says anyione were dissing him? who sed anything about stigma between clubs too? you talk about not wanting to do challenge matches but you have the cheek to tell my instructor to shut up and you expect me to sit by and watch? Uh uh don think so bisping is englands best fighter in mma and yea to be a good mma fighter u gotta be open minded and lern more from every1 next time think b4 you speak
LOL. It was actually telling everyone to shut up, not just your instructor. One of my team mates included!
It was a sarcastic "shut up" and you pretty much said everything i did so cheers for agreeing! I was pretty much saying that no one would offer a challenge match (pretty much because they're a waste of time)
The argument of whats the best has been had a million times, lets not add to it anymore.

I sent Chefkicker a pm, its all sorted out. No-one is calling anyone out, denigrating other clubs etc.
The seminar was awesome, everyone learned a lot and had much fun! :D

Yep, sorry for the late posting but I strongly agree with everyone's comments that attended, especially 'Hilary Bris'.
Even for someone who has no BJJ experience like myself it was an eye opener & a very rewarding day- showing me how damn hard grappling really is!!! (I've still got a bloody stiff neck to prove it! )
Saying that I believe, as we are taught in our academy, that to be a complete Martial Artist that you have to be open minded & embrace other styles, and I've certainly learnt first hand that BJJ is physically demanding using a hell of a lot of energy. (Or is me being pants at it? :help:)
Finally I'd too like wish John all the best for the future & cheers for a an excellent seminar, held in a fantastic place with a great bunch of guys.
PS: I just wish I'd put a face to the names IE for 'Carcass' & 'BJJMAN' etc
BTW Farhad I asked Micheal if he knew 'Dave Jackson' & he said "he's never heard of him!?"
'Only joking Chef!!!' lol :hihi:
iamthemoon 07-05-2008, 10:03 ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Crayfish 07-05-2008, 12:09 Personally, I'd rather see challenge matches than constant petty sniping!
Seminar sounds great. With luck (unless something unfortunate and accidental happens like me getting incredibly drunk) I'll be checking out the new place on Sunday. Even found a gi!
Then Chris you have your wish and i challenge you to a match on Sunday!! I will stay away from all things burger like so that my health stays up! LOL
Yorkie. I'm Paul. Im the little one who was bispings b!tch for pretty much the entire seminar LOL.
Crayfish 07-05-2008, 18:25 Hurray! I'd better get training then; 29 hours a day with a private coaching team of all the Gracies, Chuck Norris and Mr Miaggi and we might be on an equal footing!
Or I'll just break out my secret weapon... the triple decker cheesy beefburger choke...
yorkie030 08-05-2008, 02:27 Yorkie. I'm Paul. Im the little one who was bispings b!tch for pretty much the entire seminar LOL.
Cheers for that Paul, he did seem to take a shine to you which is a good thing & an honour mate, also you did a great job!
PS: I haven't forgotten to mention you to Master J ;)
