superstar1 06-04-2008, 22:10 Hi john
I ve done a little martial arts over the past few months but this centre sounds great, been looking for some where central to do thai boxing / kickboxing, and grappaling
what will the cost be any ideas and will it be open during the day who is the thai boxing instructor?
regards
Superstar1
superstar1 06-04-2008, 22:49 When i said central i didnt realise it was so close to 3 other martisl arts centres just looked on a map, its close to nmaa , Brian Aitkins Martial Arts Centre and Knox/ AFK all with in a stones throw, should be good for the punters having a choice of training.
Competition is healthy so i hope the prices arn't too steep.
Is that the same building as Mark Hayes, Sheffield Martial Arts Center ?
SAB15,
Thanks, I look forward to seeing you down there.
Superstar1,
The classes will be run individually so the instructors but the cost will be around £5 per class with discounts for blocks.
Protekt,
Yes it’s the same building so you have the added bonus of training JKD with an extremely qualified coach too.
John
Hi John, do you have a class timetable yet ?
Sorry,
the Thai coach will be Dan Hudson of the world class Wicker Camp.

Johnny_B 07-04-2008, 13:01 This sounds great, well done to all involved. just what was needed.
Sounds like a potential for a great centre. Good location too
Will you be sharing class times/costs through this thread as they get organised? Is there a venue website?
Whats happening to Marks classes ?
Hi guys,
The timetable & website are being worked on as we speak, I'll post is as soon as they have been finalised. Hopefully by the end of the week.
Thanks for the interest:thumbsup:
Marks classes will continue to run as normal. He is in a different room and not connected to the Forge but I hope to work closely with him.
afhussain 08-04-2008, 20:50 WOW I am really excited about this...ive been bamboozled where to start for ma...ive been to wicker camp for about 10 classes but ive got a.s exams coming up and the classes are too late for me.....will pep of shootfighters be teaching this? I heard hes quality...and also ive always been meaning to pop down to gracie barra and the fact that they are all under one roof is brilliant! Will there be beginner classes or are all classes for mixed abilites? Will there also be student discounts? Will there also be monthly or weekly class fees?
Thanks!
afhussain 08-04-2008, 20:56 Will this mean dan hudson is leaving wicker camp?
stussonicos 09-04-2008, 07:40 No Dan isn't leaving Wicker Camp, he's simply helping out a friend at the Forge. Dan will still be continuing with his teaching at Wicker Camp as normal.
Hi Guy,
Pep is still coaching the Shootfighting and like Stussonicos said Dan will still be training at the Wiker Camp as usual. Dan is a good friend to myself and a number of my BJJ students which is why I asked him to speak with the Wicker camp to allow him to coach. I am extemely greatful to Mick for allowing this to happen. Hopefully we can feed some new tallant to them in return.
The classes are starting off as mix ability but if the classes grow we'll look to split the classes.
Fees and times will be posted in the next day or so,
Thanks
John
themadrev 09-04-2008, 22:21 It's looking good! Even managed to spend money in the shop before the place opened?? Also I think it's fabulous that my son will have a chance to learn BJJ. I think it's a great martial art for kids as they love rolling around on the floor ( to be fair that is the reason we love it as well!), there's not the impact injuries there is with judo and i've had a few of those. I hope all the Sheffield martial arts community will support this exciting new venture.

Crayfish 17-04-2008, 11:11 Excellent news! Putting Sheffield on the map as a multidisciplinary center...
BUT!
Does this mean there'll be no training this weekend with all the setting up? Are you still running classes at Edmund road? I was going to pop down.
themadrev 17-04-2008, 11:16 Hi Chris, hope you are well and thriving with the Mancs! As ever I am working on Sunday! As far I know Lucio the black belt is taking the session on Sunday morning at Edmund Road 11-1pm. I haven't trained with him yet, but the other guys are very impressed. Cheers, Noel
Crayfish 17-04-2008, 11:22 Sounds good to me! I'm good thanks Noel, glad to see you're still training and hope all else is going well.
I guess I'll try to get down on Sunday then. Cheers for that!

the_rage 18-04-2008, 10:14 Hi John,
This place sounds great.....Will it be open during the day for drop in training. Ie will there be someone there during the day so that the equipment can be used or will this facility be used so that ppl can train when there is a class on?
Hilary Bris 20-04-2008, 19:51 Sounds like a great facility, just what Sheffield has been crying out for I reckon. Good luck to you. Hope it takes off.

jonsastar 21-04-2008, 12:14 Ive been wanting to try bjj for about a year now, never done it before so I was wondering if the classes will be taking on absolute beginners, never done any grappling or anything but id love to try it... the ufc and the expertise and abilities of the gracies has bjj sold to me... : )
yeah we're having quite a few new guys down recently. Come down and get stuck in mate. There'll be a few people there with only a few classes experience so you'll be fine.
