View Full Version : You're The New Boss Of SUFC!!!
Imagine that youre the new Chairman of SUFC.
You have to decide whether or not to keep Warnock, and if you sack him who would you get to replace him??
Which players would you buy?? (Be realistic, i think Ronaldinho and Zidane are a little out of our price range)
And which Blades players would you let go??
PLEASE DON'T COME ON IF YOU'RE AN OWL AND SAY "ALL OF THEM"
Off the top of my head!
Warnock goes upstairs as an advisor.
Andy Pack gets a wage rise! (my old sports teacher)
Out: Thirlwell, Ward, Cadamatri, Shaw,
In: Mellor (sod the 1.5 million price tag!) If we have a core of Gray, Kabba and Mellor up front, we might get some consistency up front.
I believe the rest of the squad are good enough to get us up to the premiership if they're allowed to play together regularly.
Once we're up there, it's a different story altogether! ;)
mellor is someone who COULD turn good...but hasent showed it yet...we had him at west ham (yes...thats my team....not much of a team anymore thou) and he was ineffective and hardly even got the nod over david connelley!
united in my opinion have a problem when they buy strikers...they always buy these much travelled 28 plus strikers who are basically awful. I think they should get someone on loan for a season from a top teams reserve/youth setup.
failing that....wait for some star footballer to do something `unforgivable' and get him on a free to restart his career :)
If I had the money to spend I would keep Warnock as someone to sell the club to potential players. I would like to replace him with Alan Curbishley or big Sam Allerdyce but since they are doing well in the premiership I would take George Burley or Joe Royale.
Players out: Ward, Shaw, cadematery, Thirwell, Tommy Johnson and yes I would let Beckett go as I would use the younger players for backup, he is being tortured at this club.
Players in: Ellington or Andy Johnson Maybe even Kuchi, Defense I would like to get in a big central defender to join up with either Cullip or Morgan, finally get in Ian Bennett or Paul Gerrard to keep Kenny on his toes. Midfield would be fine with Liddel, Jags, Quinn, Tonge.
joe royal did a great job at man city and then got shafted for it....would be good choice..he can work well with little money.
Not into this malarkey so would close them down and pocket the cash, should get somewhere nice and warm abroad
Ousetunes 19-03-2005, 07:47 If we fail to get promoted this season, and frankly, there's more chance of seeing Lennon performing with Elvis at the World Trade Centre, then I honestly believe every single player should be put out to grass.
Tonge and Jags should be playing in a higher league - let them go, don't stifle their careers keeping them at United and they can command decent fees. Also, Paddy Kenny could go onto bigger things - only a club like Newcastle would be daft enough to spend big money on him.
As for the rest, Gray is lazy, Cadamarteri and Shaw have also failed to deliver, Monty can probably go to Leeds and Ward can go to Burscough (or Celtic). Francis is a signing who in any other team would be impossible to dislodge - he could be an international IMO - again, let him go onto bigger and better things.
As for Kabba, maybe we could put him in a glass case on top of a shelf and bring him out for special occasions.
The bottom line for me is that this is a good squad but we've lost some atrocious games. Warnock to go at the end of the seaon and possibly McCall to take over for a season. Big Joe Royle would be a very good signing. Bobby Robson? Cilla Black?
Hmm....
Peter Taylor as manager
Paddy Kenny
Leon Cort
Damien Delaney
Leigh Bromby
Phil Jagielka
Nick Barmby
Michael Tonge
Alan Quinn
Kevin Ellison
Craig Fagan
Stuart Elliott
(subs/alteratives)
Bo Myhill
Danny Cullip
Robbie Stockdale
Stuart Green
Junior Lewis
Yep..a definite theme going there, but I think they'd work well together. In fact, the SUFC players will now be put on my list for next season's football manager game
kkmohind 22-03-2005, 12:32 you lot are getting carried away if you think joe royal nathan ellington andy johnson etc would even consider coming to us when they could all be i the prem nexrt season and on more money than we could offer. I would encourage warnock to retire at the end of the season and get someone like burley if poss. If not then mark mghee. I would also consider somebody like heider helguson a good signing to partner kabba and add richard langley to the midfield. I would like us to sign one more big commanding centre half. To go would be ward, cadamateri, monty, thirlwell, geary, becket, wright, tommy johnson and cullip may be gone soon anyway.
Personally I think Geary is a decent player,he has the bulldog spirit he is pretty quick,he held Ashley Cole in the last Arsenal match & even he praised Geary.I would like Strachan as manager.
In
Bennett,Stead,Mellor,Jansen,Stam.
Out
Cullip,Ward,Thirwell,Cads,Johnson,Morgan.

Funny I was thinking that also.
Fair is fair, tell the lads to score more goals than their opponent?

a: Induction course to familiarise strikers as to what a goal looks like [24' x 8' rectangle with a net at the back, not row Z of Bramall Lane end]
b: Practice kicking ball at a barn door from 2 yards. One hit in ten would be good.
c: Train Morgan to stay in own half during free kicks and corners, so that any goals we MAY score will count, and not be wiped out as opposition free kicks!
d: Impress on players that we don't HAVE to go one down in final five minutes before playing to full potential.
e: Have Warnock gagged so as not to wind officials up. After all, he really gets them on our side....doesn't he?
kkmohind 05-04-2005, 12:52 I agree that geary is a decent player but when you look at the number of full backs we have, somethings got to give and I think kozzy is our best right back and francis has a lot of potential so geary would be my choice to go
