hi all,
Was stopped today in Jollies but the rep for Neutro choice? dog food. I'd never heard of it before but she did a hard sell and said it was much better than Burns (as she would) as it had higher meat content and tomato in (stops urine staining grass?)
I was just wondering if anyone has tried it, uses it and what do you think?
x
I think there was a discussion on this on another dog forum that I frequent and I am sure people were put off by the high protein. Did you find out the protein percentage on it?

yes i thought this too and questioned it, 26%!!!
I tried a small bag for Molly and (along with lots of other brands) she wouldn't do anything other than pick at it so we didn't get to see whether she was fine on it either way round.
I don't remember her getting the squits whilst on it, but then again I don't remember being able to get her to eat much of it either (picky thing that she is).
Criky that is high, perhaps for a working dog it would be fine, but a normal lazy pooch would e bouncing off the walls I'd say:hihi:
Its what we feed Parka, he seems fine on it, had it since a pup, no bowel problems etc...
Don't certain James Wellbeloved foods have tomato in them? I know the new lamb and vegatable one has.
Speaking of which, has anyone tried this and if so is there any noticable different in amount you have to feed with it being cereal free?

I got some for Evie and she was fine on it. I would get it again, although at the moment she's on Burns. I guess all you can do is get a small bag and try it.
Both mine are fed on Nutro. It was one of the one recommended by a friend who works in pet nutrition. We tried samples of the ones she recommended and this was the one that didn't go straight through my dogs.
The one thing I have found is it is a lot denser that a lot of foods so the dogs don't eat as much. This might be a problem if you have a greedier dog and then you would have to check portion sizes so they didn't slap weight on.

I do find that Parka sometimes just doesnt want to eat 1 meal out of the day, hes not a greedy eater really so I put it down to how dense it is.
Mine are free fed - I know this doesn't work for all dogs but it does for mine.
I notice filling their dish up more often when it is cold or when they have been exercising more. Their weight is steady and they are at the correct weight for their breed and size. They do get treats as well but seem to eat less when they have had more treats
