I tried this with Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.

Firstly let me say I'm no expert with the software, but I could make some improvements to the photos.

However I would not go as far as to say you can make images much larger and better quality. It's always dependant on the source photo, and with most camera phones, you ain't working with much to begin with.

Maybe more adept Photoshop users can give you some tips.

i`ve got photoshop elements but have never used it, one of my dogs passed away the night before last and some of the best photo`s we have of him are on my mobile, i`ve found a beautiful picture but it looks awful when i view it on my pc and i would really like to know if it can be altered.

OK. Sorry to hear that. Like t020 has suggested (in his own inimitable style), you might want to change the thread title to "Help - Photoshop Experts required...." or summat like that...

Or get one of the Mods to do it.

When you say low quality, I assume that we are talking about Low Resolution which makes the picture look "pixelated".

If that is the case then there is not much you can do.

If the resolution is OK (some are good these days) and you are talking about 'too dark' or 'odd colour' then you can do some tweaking.

it looks blurred and the filesize is only 80kb so i don`t know if anything would work.

The problem with mobile phone cameras, especially the older models is the quality isn't that great. It looks ok on the tiny camera screen but when you see it at a reasonable size it will appear blocky blurry. There is only so much you can do to improve this, because of the limited quality you have to begin with. If you have office you might have microsoft photo editor which is very simple to use for beginner users. You can try playing around with the contrast and colour levels to clear the picture as much as possible. It will also let you resize it but this will result in an even more distorted picture.

For a bit more advanced approach I would maybe try using GIMP which is free to download from the internet. http://www.gimp.org/. It has many more features that can be played around with, It might be worth trying to resize the image to a bigger size and then altering the contrast and colour levels to make it as clear as possible but still slightly distorted and then using a gaussian blur to try and average out the distortions.

If you have a kodak digital camera I believe it comes with kodaks picture enhancer software which could maybe help you improve the picture quality. I tried to find it online to download but couldnt, I think it's only available on cds you get with a kodak camera.

Grant

It sure is possible to uprate the photo, but thers are limits, and its always possible to go "arty" on the picture and push the limit :)
What u need is photoshop (i dont meen "paint shop pro","fireworks" and such i meen proper adobe photoshop)

adaline, you can do pretty much everything in paint shop pro that you can in Photoshop :P I prefer PSP because you dont need a degree to paint a line in PSP like you do Photoshop lol

I'm quite adept at image editing, if you want to post a few pics maybe some people could have a go at editing them, but unless you've got a decent camera on your phone I cant see the pictures getting to a size where they'd be printable and look good :(

I don't think this picture can be improved much as the exposure is more or less correct. The only problem is out of focus. If you were to print this picture and frame it,then hang it somewhere where you would not be looking at it too closely it might not appear too bad.Having just lost our pet dog I know what you are going through

The moral of the story is:

Cameras are for taking photos.
Mobile phones are for phone calls.
