f1blades 03-04-2008, 15:10 Hope you guys can help me here….
I am after a new computer, would like to have 1 built because the specs I have in mind is different!! Can you recommend me a shop or a website that builds computers but trusted and reliable!
Thanks
johnbradley 03-04-2008, 15:28 Try The Real Computer Shop - google it - they will happily build a custom pc for you, using high quality components, and each pc comes with all proper disks / licenses, etc.
Also, they tend to have a 3 year warranty as standard. And are based on Ecclesall Road, S11.
Good luck - they know their stuff :)
I bought laptop there years ago, good support and service.
Also consider Very Pc @ Hillsborough.

It's easy, and a very satisfying experience. You get to pick the exact components, and buy them cheaper as you're cutting out the middle man.
At the end of the process you've got something that's exactly what you want, and you also know exactly how it was put together, which helps if ever it goes wrong.
I've built all but one of my PCs, from a AMD K62-200 based PC with a 3Dfx graphics card, right up to an Intel Q6600 PC with an 8800GTS.

Thx for the nod and glad to hear you had good service from us, always nice to hear that :)
We build machines great and small and if you have something different in mind then even better (always interested in something different) best option is to pop in to our shop on Langsett road or give us a call !
I could build you a PC at very competitive prices, Let me know the spec your after and i'll price it up and give you a quote (including labour for building etc)
johnbradley 03-04-2008, 20:44 Its all about the warranty. Building your own is very satisfying. Getting someone else to build it might be cheaper too...but at the end of the day, having a guarantee for all the bits, from the same place, and not having to go through the mail / internet / call centre systems - this is invaluable.
Given three years, something is bound to play up. Having a nice pc shop to head to when this happens is your best bet. If someone builds it for you, do you really think they will offer that level of service?
I've build my own before, and i no longer work at the computer shop mentioned, but given the choice i would still get them to build one for me. Top quality. You get what you pay for.
f1blades 03-04-2008, 20:58 I would like to build my own but affraid i might damage it!! Also don't know if this component is compatible with this component etc!!
Its all about the warranty.
Like John said this is one of the big pluses of dealing with a PC shop as opposed to diy systems, we offer a 3 year warranty on all the machines we build as standard and if you renew your antivirus through us over the course, we will extend your warranty to 5 years (VeryPC Warranty info (http://www.very-pc.co.uk/?section=warranty)).
If you are confident in the fact that you are able to maintain a self built system over the course of its lifetime then thats great but some people don't have the technical knowledge to do this or just don't want the hassle of having to do it themselves and a lot of the people I meet are of the opinion that they would rather have somewhere central to handle this all for them.
*Wallace* 04-04-2008, 07:10 I think this is one of the worst things about ready built pc's the waranty is never free you always pay for it,if a component fails stick a new one in,if it's a software prob sort it out,you can usualy sort out a problem quicker yourself than waiting in for a repair man or driving your pc to a shop and leaving it there for however long.
johnbradley 04-04-2008, 07:15 at the real computer shop the warranty is NOT an additional cost. It is part of the deal:)
*Wallace* 04-04-2008, 07:18 It's factored in somewhere.
johnbradley 04-04-2008, 07:27 Wrong. These are Asus machines. 3 year warranty. No catch. The Real Computer Shop or Very PC are just 2, good, stand-up operations.
