View Full Version : Sodje vs Sharp...
F. Sidebottom 03-04-2008, 13:55 Now the season is close to coming to its end i think we can start to visit the debate of Sodje v Sharp. United fans were convinced Sharp was the second coming.
We both blew money on the men who we both thought would keep us in the Championship (in Uniteds case try and get them automatic promotion!!!).
I'm an Owl and from my point of view Sodje has been head and shoulders above Sharp, infact i'd say there is no comparison.
Now i know United fans will think this is unfair as Sharp has been crap for most of the season, however we (the Owls) were saying this at the time, Sharp has been a lower league gimp all his career, he hasn't competed above the bottom league ever.
On top of this I hear a nasty rumour Sharp is Neil Warnocks love child.
I'm happy to hear the thought of both Blades and Owls, dicuss!!!
Even though his injury was cut short by injury, tragic for him and our season, I love the Sodje.
(even though I slated him at the beginning of the season :suspect: )
Agent Gypo 03-04-2008, 14:02 Sharp was underused for most of the season, and when he did manage to get on he made little impact. Recently though he looks a totally different player.
To be honest I haven't seen Sodje play.
Stockers 03-04-2008, 14:03 hahaha!!
****Sidesplitting - you make my day with your whitty jests every day!!
Who said all Wednesday fans were inbred, certainly not me kidda!!

So you didn't watch the last Sheffield derby game then?
Funky_Gibbon 03-04-2008, 15:20 I'm an Owl and from my point of view Sodje has been head and shoulders above Sharp, infact i'd say there is no comparison.
The irony being that we only really signed Sodje in an failed attempt to attract his defender brother to sign as well.
Good job this thread isn't called Sharp vs Jeffers or we'd really be in trouble.
Sodje is a good player & it was a shame him getting injured, but Sharp has started to find his goals now Robbo has gone & next season you will see a top striker.
SpeedwayDan 03-04-2008, 15:54 Bit hard to compare them both this season, Sodje has proven himself where as sharpe has only just started to, hopefully if both stay fit next season we can compare them easier
I think Sodje has had a better season, but i'd rather have Sharp in my long term plans.

That's about right.
barmyowls 03-04-2008, 17:10 Sodje has had the better of the season and we will never know how many goals he would have got if he did not get injured!!
As for sharp he is still learning and only time will tell on him
NERVY-OWL 03-04-2008, 17:36 at the moment i's say sodje, shame he got injured and sharpe has only just started playing. well be easier to compare them after a full season for both of them
totally different players ,i think sharpe is a predator type of player in or around 6 yard box where as sodit is a player that likes a ball played in front of him to have a run at goal with pace if you no what i mean

Same ilk as the Beattie and Jeffers thread!
Sodje in my eyes has produced more than Sharp and any real Blade will agree, all my Blades mates have been calling him Billy BLUNT, we know he has a knack of scoring goals, but can he really produce at this level?
I don't know, reports suggest NO, but goals breed confidence simple as!
SODJE WINS HANDS UP/DOWN and SIDEWAYS!
blueandwhite 04-04-2008, 07:46 Sodje for me,Sharp has undoubted talent but for what ever reason its not happened for him this season.
I think you could split sharps season into 2 parts though, with robson and without robson.
WITH robson he was shocking, he wasn;t close to the ball and wasn;t getting in the right areas.
AFTER robson he's starting to show why we paid that money for hom, 3 goals in 4 games- getting on the balls- taking defenders on etc etc.
i think that the early season sharp would loose to sodje- but now sharp looks like a class player and i think next season he is going to be something special.
crookesey 04-04-2008, 11:30 To be perfectly honest I would have loved to see Sharp partnering Sodje for the Owls.
SteveBlade 04-04-2008, 11:35 As a Blades fan, Sodje has easily been better than Sharp this season. But since Blackwell has come he has been amazing! I think we should leave it until next season when hopefully both players will be playing a lot more.
