View Full Version : MISSING 20000 so called fans.
blueandwhite 03-04-2008, 13:27 CB has just made a fantastic point. When we went to Cardiff in the play off final,we had 40000 supporters.Yet since our day out many have never been seen again. What has happened to the 20000 fans that have not been seen since.:loopy:
CB has just made a fantastic point.
Don't encourage him! ;) :hihi:
But yeah, but there have been dwindling attendances for a variety of reasons, most obviously poor perfomances, legal fighting against fans etc. etc.
jossyboy 03-04-2008, 13:31 evey team has fairweather fans b&w that only come out for the big occasions i don't think wednesday have the monopoly on this, i haven't been to bramall lane for donkeys but would make the effort for a playoff final if i could find the money

It happens at every club - a big occasion and thousands turn out who've either never been to a game before or haven't been for years. Look at Barnsley - they only average around 8,000 regular home fans yet they're taking 33,000 to Wembley. Even Bristol Rovers somehow managed over 30k for the playoff final last year.
I'm more worried about the fact that the 22-23k hardcore home support at Hillsborough has dropped by about 5k in the second half of this season. I know we're struggling but this is when we need fans behind the team. They still turned up for the derby game!
Stockers 03-04-2008, 13:53 It does grind you down after a while, i'm a season ticket holder at the Lane but really struggled to turn up earlier in the season under Robson.
For those who have a family to support (which i don't yet!!) and jobs that don't pay very well its all about priorities and if you're club are losing and you're not enjoying yourself you can't justify spending the money week in, week out.
I don't blame the fairweather supporters, you can sit at home on a Sunday watching Man U, Arsenal or Chelsea most weekends.
Look how many Barnsley are taking to wembley & like in a earlier post the thing is it is fairweather fans, they only make the effort by glory seeking.all teams do it as it gives a boost to the town.
Why would you want to watch Mancs ,Arse,or Chelski when i go which is every home and some away i only ever go to watch my team never just because its a flair team that we are playing .Too many people wear flair team shirts watch manc or liverpool TV never been to a game it makes me seeeethe
support your local side thats what i think weather its red or blue chesterfield or rotherham or barnsley

My point exactly!
I said to my mate 'I wonder if these lot come next season whilst walking back to mini bus on that fantastic day in May'
Did they F8ck!
It's true the supporters are getting picked off 1 by 1 at the moment, we have a poor average this year as well. Concerning, Again don't encourage the wind up merchant in the US of A! LOL:)

Thats CANAD of A :hihi:
Still didn't get a reply from you on the other thread when you asked if I was at the Sheffield derby and you said thought not and I said as a matter of fact i was there ;)
To be serious for a minute, the real supporters are getting priced out of the game and we were the ones back in the day who kept the clubs we love afloat, now they dont give a toss about the regular working man.
Same here as well, try getting a ticket to a Maple Leafs hockey game, costs you a weeks wages (glad the owner of my company has season tickets ).

But, aren't you glad you''ve got the Hammers coming over to Toronto in July, to play a friendly against an MLS team.

Saw Toronto FC play Villa last season as you well know ;)
No doubt will be going to see West Sham and hurl abuse at the cheats :hihi:
Over 2,500 Toronto FC fans made the 8 1/2 drive to Columbus Ohio for the opening match of the season and now have just signed Laurent Robert :o
sheffy1986 04-04-2008, 14:41 And how many extra blades are gonna turn up next tuesday night???
How many extra porkys turned up at Wembley when we turned you over???
And how the hell can anyone living in a different country/continent from the team he "follows" comment on the lack of support for a team!!!

Relax a little pal your tie is a little too tight :hihi::hihi:
Incase you didn't notice there are LOTS of people who comment on many different things on here from many different countries including owls.
Because I went to the Sheffield derby I have seen both Sheffield teams once this season and I can bet you its once more than a lot of people on here posting :D
A good owl friend of mine lives just down the road from me and he wrote a book you might have heard of "Flying with the Owls Cleaning Service" :D
Ally posts regularly from Winklebonk and Chuff posts from Windsor, Canada.
Believe it or not we have internet and tellys here to see whats going on and by looking on websites you can see how many fans aren't turning up at matches to be able to comment.
Ohhhh look at that 40,000 owls grunting at Cardiff, now the average is a touch over 20,000
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/stats/attendance?league=eng.2&year=2007&cc=3888
The stats dont lie my little pink chum ;)

Pretty much the same amount, on both sides. Which rather proves his point.

It isn't even the first time. You just haven't noticed the countless others, because you care more about who is posting something than what they said.

CB was having a pop at the boys in blue (again) and never mentioned anything about the missing porkys in red
So it doesnt actually prove his point..........it just raises another debate!!!
