This post was inspired by Nick Margerrison's great show Nick At Night.

What are your top three comedy shows ever and why??

1. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - excellent characters by Steve Martin and Michael Caine

2. The Klumps - Eddie Murphy as the old sex mad woman just make me laugh every time.

3. My ex with no clothes on!

I'm assuming you mean TV comedies?

1) *Alan Partridge (all 3 series)
2) Reeves & Mortimer (everything - except Randall and Hopkirk: Deceased, which wasn't funny)
3) The Office

(bubbling under: The League Of Gentlemen, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Little Britain, Bottom)

*The Simpsons probably should be number one in this list as it's almost certainly the best TV show ever. But like most American TV, it's gone on way too long and, while still brilliant, has reached the point of overkill.

Three best:

1. The Simpsons.

Consistently fabulous and still vastly superior to anything else on television - after all these years. Homer Simpson has single-handedly made the stand-up comic an irrelevance.

2. Futurama.

Criminally under-rated, the sci-fi setting let the writers run riot and come up with gags that wouldn't be possible in The Simpsons. A tragedy that it has been canned.

3. One Foot in the Grave

Plenty of belly laughs with a plentiful helping of pathos thrown in too. brilliantly written and performed.

Three worst:

1. Little Britain

It just isn't very funny. Where are the jokes? Where is the humour? Vicky Pollard apart, can anyone relate to any of the 'characters'? Sneery and tiresome.

2. Ab Fab

A throwaway sketch stretched taut as Joanna Lumley's skin into an unfunny series spanning goodness-knows how many episodes and years.

3. My Hero

Up until the success of My Family, this was BBC1's highest-rating comedy, proving beyond doubt that the British public are idiots.

Faulty Towers
Frasier
Simpsons

That was easy!

But oh s**t what about Spaced, Father Ted & Futurama. Or even Curb Your Enthusiasm, Ideal & Cheers...

Spoilt for choice...

Do radio shows count ?

I have been downloading "Round The Horne" lately and it is so funny.

I love Futurama too, why that got axed and the bloody dreadfull Simpsons still keeps going I don't know, probably becasue without the Simpsons Sky 1 would have nothing to broadcast.

I like M*A*S*H too.

Blackadder is the top! All of them in order: 3,4,2,1
second place comes Alan Partridge 1st series I'm Alan etc after KMKY (but a very close second)
and in final place is Futurama, which i have only ever seen one episode of but i laughed so much i actually thought i would have to turn it off just to catch my breath! (it was the episode on tv recently when the robot man is upgraded, and ends up on a desert island with all these 'natural' robots. apologies to die hard fans for not knowing any names or actual episode details, thanks, im now laughing again at the thought of it lol.

Peter Kay ( all the episodes of phoenix nights and everything he has ever done. Including those brilliant adverts)

Ricky Gervais ( all the office episodes and his 2 stand up videos)

Steve Coogan (again love alan partridge, paul calf and his stand up)

Blackadder obviously is up there somewhere between those

Ones i never found funny

Father Ted
League of Gentleman
Frasier
Friends
Any other american sitcom
Two Pints of Lager
My Hero and My Family ( too predictable and pathetic)

Susie
19-03-2005, 18:04
1, Red Dwarf
2, Family Guy
3. Will and Grace

I love Joey, I know some of you dont like it, but I was never a big friends fan, but I think Joeys great, I always make sure me and my boyfriend are back home in time on a sunday Night to watch it.

I also love King of Queens its great, its got the guy whos in Will Smiths new film Hitch in it, but its only really shown in the mornings on channel four or sometimes on Paramount, i think its really underrated here!

Goning on a UK / US split!

UK:

1. Coupling - Not one mention yet either, for shame!
2. I'm sorry I haven't a clue - radio rather than TV but all the better for it!
3. Comic Strip - Especially the GLC episode!

And for the US:

1. Futurama - The Simpsons for grown ups!
2. Simpsons - Also The Simpsons for grown ups :o
3. Scrubs - Fab sureal hospital comedy with a very English sense of humour

And some all round worst:

Mr Bean - Oh how I hate it!
Friends - It was supposed to be a comedy???
Gimme, gimme, gimme - see above :gag:
