View Full Version : Who was the best puppet of all time?
BasilRathbon 03-04-2008, 10:00 It's the question they're all asking in pubs, clubs and brothels up and down the country; Who was the best TV puppet of all time?
Why not vote and show that democracy as a system of demonstrating the will of the people is still a viable option?
High time this question was asked! For me it has to be Sweep - no contest!!
Spit the dog ! .............
EdnaKrabappe 03-04-2008, 10:12 Roland Rat, was on something the other week and still made me giggle.... yeah... rat fans!
Who was the best puppet of all time?
Mr Blair America's best :hihi:

You don't remember Hartley Hare?
Look at this and tell me it's not sheer genius!

It has to be the Zipster, although Sweep's genius is often underrated.
The Miller 03-04-2008, 10:34 You've missed out the best ones,
Muffin the Mule
Andy Pandy
The Wooden Tops
Rag Tag and Bobtail
Bill and Ben the flower pot men (The originals not todays updated rubbish)
Larry the Lamb
Pinky and Perky
Jabberwocky 03-04-2008, 10:34 Hartley Hare without doubt!
Ok, he needed crowns on his teeth but he was a dude.
ShinyPurple 03-04-2008, 10:54 You've missed out the best ones,
Muffin the Mule
I think you'll find Sir Basil never misses Muffin the Mule :o
My fave has to be Animal from the Muppets :D
Jabberwocky 03-04-2008, 11:11 Inflatable Annie.
she was in quite a few movies in the 60s and 70s....
SugarPuff 03-04-2008, 11:12 He's not on your list, but it has to be Chucky for Prime Minister! Hartley Hare was just plain scarey!
BasilRathbon 03-04-2008, 11:28 Sadly it appears I've vastly underestimated the number of puppets held in warm regard by forummers. If it's possible to change a poll, perhaps someone would care to add Emu, Bill & Ben, Pinky and Perky, Roland Rat, Spit the dog, Tony Blair and the entire cast of the Muppet Show (individually)?
SugarPuff 03-04-2008, 11:30 It would be helpful if you could sort them all into colour groups if you're going to be fiddling with the list.
Thanks! X
SugarPuff 03-04-2008, 11:32 And shortest to tallest...
EdnaKrabappe 03-04-2008, 11:41 And Zig and Zag

pk014b7161 03-04-2008, 12:08 zippy without a doubt.................
SugarPuff 03-04-2008, 12:20 Since Chucky isn't on the list, I'll go with the entire cast of Rainbow.
My fave episode was where they had a jumble sale and silly old Jeffrey put his coat down on the stall... I bet you can guess what happened next! Yes, the coat was sold in error and they spent the rest of the show trying to find it!
Thankfully Jeffers was reunited with his outer garment after a nail-biting few minutes, and calm was restored.
I personally have been very careful about where I put my coat since then.
who voted for Basil Brush?? Loony!
pk014b7161 03-04-2008, 12:25 got zippy & co on dvd

What a very careless man he was.
SugarPuff 03-04-2008, 12:38 To this very day there are people in pubs and clubs who stand holding their coats instead of trusting the hatstands or cloakrooms, due to having seen this episode at an early age.

I was traumatised by an early edition of the Sooty Show in which Sweep attempted to split the atom to try and impress Soo enough to get into her pants. To this day, whenever I see an attrractive woman I can't help showing her a spot of nuclear fission.
pk014b7161 03-04-2008, 12:49 i remember the question whats the difference between sooty & joan collins......you can only get one hand up sooty:o
SugarPuff 03-04-2008, 12:53 :o peeks, cheeky!! :hihi:

Don_Kiddick 07-04-2008, 10:59 I voted hartley from the choices, but I liked the Clangers & Hectors House too (except that irritating frog Kiki
steveb2007 07-04-2008, 12:54 It's got to be Sweep,although i could never understand him!:hihi:

NEKRO138 07-04-2008, 13:05 Captain Black off Captain Scarlet gets my vote everytime. He's one bad motherhubbard.

I'd say there's only Lord Charles that's bedded more puppets than Captain Black.
But Lord Charles has an unfair advantage because he sleeps with men as well.

I beg to differ; Nookie Bear didn't get his name by accident and by all accounts he wasn't too fussy about species, never mind male or female!
