which do you prefer to watch? are you a calendar fan or a look norther?. i used to be a richard whiteley fan but in recent years i have thought that look north offers a better local coverage. harry and christa make an excellent combination.

Calendar the few times I watch it, Look Leeds as most people on here call it is far too biased towards Leeds based stories IMO.

Look North always comes across too serious, so I tend to watch Calendar then switch over to North West Tonight. Gordon Burns and Tony Livesey (of Sunday Sport fame) make a good double act.

When I first moved to Manchester in 1999 I used to watch Calendar (via Sky) to get my Yorkshire "fix". It always amused my missus where they'd end on a very lighthearted story, like one night where 20 firefighters freed a duck frozen on a pond.

I watch Look North i think calendar is too amaturish.

I would say neither as I don't really like local news programmes. They tend to focus very much on either crime or health news and have too many 'human interest' stories.

Look Lees everytime. I like the coverage, the banter and the weird people. The female sports presenter who sounds like a man, Christa and her orange hue, Paul , Harry, the overgrown school boy, the good looking slim young man, the weird woman who is 50+ and tries to look 20, Penny I think, the stick insect woman and the very slim, well dressed pretty weather girl. What a bizarre mix.

But what I like most is that my husband is not a Dickie Bird fan and he is rolled out regularly to upset him.

Calendar is really dreadful.

I'm not keen on either, but Calendar is slightly more watchable than Look North.

Calender South.

There is another version that is Leeds biased

Depends which transmitter your TV is tuned to.

Look North of course. The men on Calendar always look tired and fed up.

Although, I have heard rumours that Harry Gration doesn't actually like Leeds either, so I choose Look North!

Agree with above, they both tend to focus too much on Leeds (and West Yorkshire). I assume because they both have their main studios in the area.

Which Calendar should I be watching for South Yorkshire news (if there actually is any)? I can get Yorkshire W and Yorkshire E on Sky. I normally watch Yorkshire W but just noticed for the first time tonight that Calendar is different on each channel and each has different presenters.

There'll be just one Yorkshire Calendar soon with a 6 minute "newsbelt" at 6:05pm for the Yorkshire W region.

Used to prefer Look North, but the last time I saw Harry was in Boots on Fargate! Up here, all we get is either the Lincs/E.Yorks or the Wearside (?) version of Look North (apparently the aerial is pointed to Belmont ). At least we hear the word "Sheffield" on Calendar now...

I prefer Calendar but nothing can get me away from Christa so it always ends up being Look North.

Calendar every time hands down

I think Calendar has really gone down the pan. They used to go over to the Sheffield studio for two news slots and now there is very little hard, local news coverage - it seems cheaper to have a chat with the weathergirl on the sofa these days.
Look North is marginally better but there are a few individuals I can't stand on that.

Make the most of both!
Here in the North Midlands we get "Midlands today". Its like Calendar was back in the 70s, and at the end of each summer we get a fast montage of the presenters doing the things they did in the summer with something like Wake up Boo playing in the background.
The rest of the time its some corpse telling us that a window was broken by a ball in the tiny village of Gusset-thorpe-on-the-snatch and the police are looking into it.

Its like being in a bloody time warp here sometimes.

Look Leeds isn't bad, but how the heck does Christa Aykroyd get so ORANGE?! Has she been Tangoed?! The worst thing about it is their blatant bias towards Leeds based stories, and crap coverage of Sheffield news, but Calendar are to a lesser extent guility of that as well, at least they have a Sheffield Studio.
