The waste of space down the side of buses is enough to make me wonder where my license fee is being squandered

Oh this bloody advert; like Eastenders wasn't annoying enough as it is.

Admittedly I've never sat down and watched an episode of Eastenders, but that advert doesn't make me want to one bit...rather stick a fork in my eye :hihi: :P

One could understand the advert if they only showed it between programmes potential Eastenders viewers might watch such as other soaps, reality and TV talent shows.

Yet the BBC doesn't seem to have grasped that people who have a reasonable intellectual capacity and don't live on a council estate have no interest in Eastenders, so why are they showing it before and after relatively intelligent shows?

First rule of advertising; target the right market!

I'm very tired of all the Eastenders adverts on radio and TV.

Other soaps don't have to resort to this level of advertising, so why Eastenders? Are they that desperate to get viewers?

Bianca is back with that same old silver puffa jacket. Surely in the years that passed she might have bought another?

The advert is SO bad. I don't watch Eastenders anyway.

First rule of posting, old chap - Don't generalise! I am both reasonably intelligent and don't live on a council estate and have loved Eastenders since the beginning. It is what it is, granted, but it's harmless entertainment when all said and done. I'm not sure where it says that a love and understanding of more intellectual productions precludes enjoyment of the soaps. I like Shameless too - wanna make something of that?

Good Golly! First time I've seen it and being a fan of eastenders I must confess that ad is pretty scary:gag:. I don't get the stupid silver jacket either, Is it the same one she used to wear 20 years ago or something?

It 'almost' makes me want to watch Eastenders, which I'd normally only do if forced at gunpoint.

Why? It had a bit of Shameless humour. I think someone's been watching the antics of the Gallaghers and McGuires and thought they'd have a bot of that on Beeb One ;)

my four year old stopped in his tracks when this advert came on, stood there watching it and then turned to me and said - isn't that awful singing mum - which was really funny.

I did watch the thing on Ricky and Bianca on BBC3 the other night and she said that the original puffa jacket was put in a Blue Peter time capsule so they had to get her another one and that Bianca always got the fashion wrong - I think the costume department just close there eyes and point to something on the rail and then sling it altogether to make an outfit.

Are you trying to say that people that live on a council estate dont have reasonable intellectual capacity? and obviously if you watch eastenders you dont watch 'intelligent' tv shows??

I do hope not, as that is a terribly stereotypical view, I personally dont see why just because you live on a council estate you're classed as a lower class of being??

Would an intellectual admit to watching Eastenders though?

Let's be honest that kind of show (and ITV's entire output while we're at it) is aimed at a certain type of person.
