My company is offering computer equipment under the above scheme. I'm thinking of buying the following laptop and would appreciate anybody's views on whether it is value for money. It is an Elonex Soliton ProWire 150-2 notebook.
# Microsoft Windows XP Home
# Intel Mobile Centrino Technology
# Intel Pentium M Processor 2.0GHz
# Intel 855GM chipset
# 512MB DDR memory - expandable to 1GB
# 15" XGA LCD display- upgradeable to SXGA+
# 80GB hard disk
# Integrated Intel graphics 64Mb
# DVD+/-RW drive
# Wireless LAN integrated - Intel 2200BG 802.11g 54Mbps
# 56K V.92 modem integrated
# Microsoft Works Suite 2005
# 10/100 network interface integrated
# Smart Lithium-Ion Battery (up to 5 hours life depending on processor fitted and application in use) + AC power adaptor
# PCMCIA card slot - 1 x Type II
# 3-in-1 memory card reader (SD/MMC/MS types)
# 3 x USB v2.0 + FireWire + Infra-red + Parallel ports
# VGA-out + S-video + RJ-11 + RJ-45 ports
# Digital sound with microphone & headphone sockets

The cost, after tax/NI concessions is £15.41 per month for 36 months making a total of £555. On their site they sell them for £799 plus VAT. How does the costs/spec compare with what I could get buying normally, though bearing in mind I would have to find the £555 upfront if I was buying from a retailer. Thanks for any help.

I got my laptop on a similar scheme, that sounds pretty good as long as your are not wanting a gaming machine.. You often get a three year warranty with them as well as technically they are leased.
Go for it

Me too.. Brilliant laptop, and I certainly won't miss the money!

List price of mine is £1610.. but with £22.85 off my salary a month over 3 years, I end up saving £727 (45%) off the price so I only end up paying £882.

My laptop is a desktop replacement, really powerful!
