As you are aware the DS was released last week, and i'm sure you are all having fun playing through mario etc, but we all know that you can't beat multiplayer!

Therefore i want to know if anyone is interested in forming a 'club' of sorts to meet up in the town centre, meadowhall etc for some 6 player ridge racer, 4 player mario etc. i've dedicated a forum to the preposed 'club' here www.ndsrevo.co.uk please have a look and post if your interested.

thanks!

One question - what on Earth is a DS?

New handheld gaming toy: http://www.nintendo.com/systemsds

Think Gameboy meets Star Trek.

Lol good question. Gameboy with touch screen and 3d graphics is a good summary. Theres also the PSP, which has much better graphics, but although it would be fun to play spiderman on the toilet, most of the games are uninspiring to say the least!

How do you know how uninspiring the games for it are if it's not even released yet?

well if this was organised then i would come and probly bring sister and her bf too (we all have DS's and love multiplayer!!)
tbh i really want to try pictochat when u cant see or kno who ur talking to... when ur sat next to the person it seems a tad pointless.
never tried ridge racer tho does it support 1 cart multiplayer or will i have to buy it?

yup ridge racer supports one cart, but i think you get more choice with multicart.

Yes, and most games only need one cart for multiplayer as well

Depends on your console allegiance, most Nintendo zealots would say yes the DS is better, but ask a Sony zealot and they would tell you they'd sell their mothers to raise enough money to buy a PSP and some games for it.

The PSP definitely has wow factor, no doubt about it. When you see the graphics you will be amazed. It has wifi and plays music and vids too. It has poor battery life though.

Anyway, the DS does have wireless multiplayer, and it looks soo much fun. Hence why i think it would be nice to have a community to play, as its quite hard to find 5 other people to play ridge racer, mario etc.

I guess im lucky then cuz i'v got 3-4 other people to play and its so much fun u'll forget all about singleplayer games.

jim u seem to kno alot, do u kno if the psp has sterio sound? just wondering about the dvd and mp3 player capabilities.. i kno the ds does. something no1 has ever mentioned in any of the forums b4

The DS doesn't have video and mp3 playback as standard, but there will be an accessory for that. The PSP has stereo sound and can play mp3s off an optional memory stick, but no dvds. It uses another type of disc called UMD, which kinda sucks 'cause any movie you want to watch will have to be bought again, even if you own the DVD. But think about it, would you want to hold a PSP for the 2 hour + length of a movie? doubt it. I say take the PSP on the merit of its games, not its other features.

Craigy, if you and your friends are into DS, send them the way of my website, www.ndsrevo.co.uk ! cheers!

O dammit getting a decent sized community just got that much harder, they've just announced shogun warrior which has 16 player multiplayer!

tried to register on your site only to be greeted by a loveley "Could not register new user."
the psp looks great and probly has some great games comming out on it too but i doubt they will be that much better than the ds's once ur past the graphics. I love the touch screen as it lets you play fps games so well and rts should be great fun too. I see movies being a waist of time and i already own a ipod. heh i dont kno if 16 players will ever happen unless there was an official tournament held somewhere.
