I’ve been with all the G2 networks.

Orange - Shocking customer support. You'll definitely microwave your brain while waiting to get answered!
Vodafone - Not bad, a little pricey though.
O2 - You look like your searching for uranium with a guiger counter when using their phones.
T-Mobile - Over all very good, they will beat any other networks tarrifs if you ring them up and ask them, plus their text messages are 10p inc VAT not 10p +vat like most of the others!
Virgin - Use the T-mobile network.
Fresh - No idea who this is, and they must rent airtime from some other network too.

One thing about T-mobile, My contract was up in October last year, I wanted a specific phone, so I would call them every week to see if they had the handset yet. At the start of every call I got the message, "Due to unexpected call volumes, waiting time is higher than normal". It took me until late February to give up and get a different handset. How can call volumes be unexpected for 4 months?

tesco also do a mobile service that also shares the same network as 02

I've not had a problem with Orange customer support ever.

I call them fairly frequently, and the call always get answered promptly, on matter what time of the day it is. When my moto v600 broke last year, they sorted it out very quickly, and my defective Nokia 6100 they gave me free on upgrade in January was replaced in 7 days.

When I phoned up to get the upgrade, they quoted me £99.99, and she said the computer wouldn't let her get it any lower, but if I phoned the cancellations department, I could get it for free. I promptly did, and the phone was with me the next day!

I never have signal problems, and everywhere I've lived and worked always seems to be covered.

I've been on o2, t-mobile (when it was one to one) and I'd never look anywhere else but orange! 02 keep ******* my dad's business around, and despite the £10 000+ they spend on calls every quarter, they still won't offer the staff on corporate contracts free upgrades!

Orange all the way!

Yep they do.
I thought they had just about the worst coverage of all.
You obviously don't have any problems, though....

I think there is some sort of fiddle you can do with the 02 'online sim' (the one that you top up £10 min per month and get 200 free texts)
Something to do with altering the date setting on your mobile at a specific time.
Anyone interested could probably track it down here:

under the 'mobile telephony' forum

I enjoy using Orange. I have really good coverage in my areas, but I can't speak for the rest of England.

The help centre is in the north east and the ladies have lovely soft north east accents. They answer promptly and often give me things free. I just got £5 of free calls to use while I'm away.

T-mobile doesn't work at all in my house.

I couldn't comment on any other network other than a couple of mates have also changed to orange because the service in woodseats is better.

I don't doubt you about T mobile & Virgin using the same network but I must admit I am surprised. My sister & brother in law used to use T mobile & had quite a few problems with signal etc. I've been with Virgin for years & not had any problems :)

From my experience Orange seems to be the best. Unfortunately I'm stuck with Vodafone whom seem to be very average in comparison.

I think i have eben with every network in england, but i think the best out of them is 02, they do a good offer with there 02 genie simcard, just have to put £10 a month on and if you do you get 300 messages 300 wap mins plus you still get you £10 for calls.

Does anyone else think that networks should let you top up in any ammount like vodavone use to, becasue it would be better to be able to top up to the ammount you want....e.g £2, £3, £6, £14???????

I'm with BT at the moment as I get free calls to my landline (even though I use talk talk for my home phone).
The signal is great though i'm sure they use T-Mobiles network.
I pay £20 a month line rental and my bill rarely goes over £21, although this is probably due to a lack of friends :(

I'm on 02 and think they are not very good i used to be on orange and could get a great signal everywhere. So next time I get a new phone who do you think i should get it with, what are you're experiences?

Been with Vodafone - their customer service was severely lacking (I had problems logging onto the online account - they basically told me that I was doing it all wrong, or that my PC was set wrong. I told them that I knew what i was doing and that my wife could access her account fine using the same PC and same settings. They basically told me, again, that I was doing it all wrong and they could do nothing about it. So, I just had to take their word for it that the value I was billed was correct as I couldn't check it and as I signed up for the online account they wouldn't send out itemised billing!)

Friend is on Orange - keeps losing signal and despite their promise to pay out if you do keep losing signal he is still yet to see any reimbursement of costs.

Family used 3 for a year - nothing but trouble. Lost connection, broken phones, inept customer service. Even trying to cancel the contract after 12 months resulted in my sister being put through to 7 different people, each time going through the usual "We can give you a new phone if you stay!" 7 people!!!

I am on o2 and have been for 2 years now. Will be renewing contract for another 12 months. Never lost a connection, very helpful customer service whenever I have had call to query my bill. Big thumbs up from me.

Theres good and bad points about all the operators

O2, probably some of the best tarriffs around, but crap Reception and crap customer service

Vodafone, overpriced and every other company can beat a Vodafone tariff also crap customer service, but they have probably the best network coverage around so really good reception.

T-Mobile, Brilliant customer service, everything else just average, average reception, average tarrifs, but overall there isnt a really big downside.

Orange, very average network, crap customer service

3 Mobile, some of the best Tarriffs around, but crap network coverage and customer service.

That's because it isn't if you lose signal, but if they lose your call. If you're on the phone to somebody and the network faults and you get disconnected then they'll reimburse you. It's not their fault if you walk out of signal, or drive out of signal, but if something malfunctions or there's a fluctuation in the frequency and you get cut off they'll reimburse you then.

I get about 5 free minutes every other month or so as they lose my calls. If he thinks he should be owed anything give them a call and they'll look into it.

As for the customer service problem jsut above, I've never had any issues with Orange customer service. They've always been top notch for me, but I spend around £1500 a year with them, so maybe that has something to do with, and I've been a customer for 7 years!

I voted orange. Been with them a few years now and cannot be bothered to change. Everyonbe who knows me personally has my orange number, including some whos number I do not have cos they use caller number withheld. So even if I changed I would not be able to notify them straight away and would have to keep my old network until I could.

I have had no probs with reception so I'll stick with the devil I know.

I cant believe orange is in front at the moment - I was on orange a few years back and thought their reception was sh*t!
From alot of people I've talked to, this is still the same. Im with Vodafone at the moment and it's excellent coverage all over Sheffield.

Used to be with Vodafone and the reception and service was awful - really felt like they couldn't care less.

I voted for Other as I've been with Virgin Mobile for a few years now and they've been spot on - and when I recently bought a new handset the people in the store were really helpful.
