I live in shiregreen, on sycamore house road to be exact.
but some people think that its not in shiregreen??????
When my 18month old daughter was born i tried to register with sure start to benefit from all the things they do. I sent my form off but was refused!
Aparently sure start (for shiregreen and firth park) cover the whole of shiregreen and firth park APART from the little bit from bellhouse road back to sycamore house road! they told me that they didnt have enough money to include these streets. come on there only a few of them and every other one is included!
So if i cant go to the shiregreen sure start then where do i go? its not like my road can be classed as anywhere else!
I live in Dinnington.
Have a Sheffield address, A worksop telephone Number, and under Rotherham council
Maybe Sure Start can advise further on this, failing that you can ask at your local library for help on the matter or for other groups that may work along similar lines.
I know Sure Start have some good programmes for young mums and it's a shame about the 'boundary' issue but don't give up. Your local baby clinic may also have some info on the matter.
Good luck with it all.
Dont understand ,
what area does sycamore come under then according to them.
theres no other area it can come under, its deffinately shiregreen.
My friend lives on there.
sure theres no boundries.
I was brought up from the age of 4 on Sycamore House Road it is definately Shiregreen and always has been. If Sure Start are excluding it that is an issue you will have to take up with them I am afraid.

SureStart is one of those initiatives to give additional support to areas that have been defined as having higher levels of deprivation (when looking at unemployment, on benefits, incomes etc.).
Maps are drawn to define those areas (Shiregreen, Gleadless valley, Sharrow etc.) and it is sad to say that a family on one corner of a junction is "in" and a family opposite is"out".
This means that not everybody is entitled to access this support.
If you feel that you are being treated unfairly, I recommend you talk to one of your councillors.

thanx everyone, i will take your advice and ask more questions and see what can be done.
i just dont think that its fair that all of shiregreen is included apart from a few streets!
we've missed out on loads of stuff, i missed out on all the mother and baby stuff and now im missing out on all the toddler stuff too!
i'll keep trying though!
