Hi all, I am looking for some ideas and advice.
I am on maternity leave from my current job, working in a call centre, customer service work but primarily responding to customers letters of complaint and executive post. A lot of what I do is working within the Sales of Goods Act and trying to explain to customers what their rights are and what our responsibilities are.
I am looking at going back to college and would like to study Law. However, I do not think that I want to become a solicitor. I am looking for ideas for what I could do for a job after completing the A Level Law course.
Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hmm, some very interesting suggestions there, thank you for that.
The trading standards officer sounds like a good idea because I love doing all the retail and trading legalities and stuff, I might feel a bit like gamekeeper turned poacher though because I am usually on the other side. (employed by a retailer)
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

After the A Level you may want to consider studying ILEX. ILEX comes in part 1 and part 2 and is available at the Sheffield College. It will train you to to become a Legal Executive. This is similar to a solicitor, but you won't be one (if that makes sense!) and employers are more likely to go for you and pay you better than a paralegal, and you could specialise in your contract law (Sale of Goods Act). Hope that helps and good luck! JIB.

Thank you for that, the ILEX is something I have heard about but I was under the impression that you needed to be employed in a solicitors office before you could qualify, secretary or similar.
I think I will have to do a bit more research on the Legal Exec qualifications and prospects.

Then you'd be particularly effective 'cause you'd know all the ways retailers try to get out of things :)
