notice the dots. Why do we have to have a specific length of title to post a topic?
it is a bit silly. i can see why but I cannot post a topic about a film with a film name but have to say film + blah blah blah.
really annoying....
The idea is so that people try to use more descriptive titles to give everyone half a chance of knowing what the thread is about and to improve the search facillity now that the Forum is so huge.
So... for example, this thread would have been better named as
Why do thread titles have to be a specific length ?
Do you want a Mod to change it for you ;)
I'd like a mod to stop patronising me;)
but seriously you can easily end up really having to put a lot of nonsense in a title to drag it out.
I was being serious though, albeit a little tongue in cheek. :P
I take your point that if you are talking about something like a film title it can be quite short, but go on - give it a try. It's not a matter of pedantry, its there for the reasons that I indicated.
It was introduced a while ago to try to 'encourage ' people not to use one word or meaningless titles. Some might be ok short, but unfortunately the Mod Team have to weed and change them them by hand, so the 'catch all' is there to be more of a help than a hindrance.
