Been out walking today, Josh did his usual of refusing to go in the garden, however armed with trusty poo bags I scooped up the offending article. And then couldnt find a dog bin anywhere. We went on a different route from normal, right down the main road through the centre of the village. Eventually found a bin near the cafe in Rother valley Park.

How do the council expect people to clean up their dog poo when there is no where to put it.

I honestly dont know whats worst, not cleaning up the poo or cleaning it up and hanging it on trees! At least it eventually biodegrades without a bag around it, whats that all about anyway, hanging it on trees, if I couldnt find a bin I would have taken it home:confused:

Does anyone know who to approach to get more dog bins out there?

I don`t know who to approach, but everywheres the same.
Graves park is the largest park in Sheffield and I think that only has 3 bins.
Its even worse if you`re not in a park, there arn`t any.

Can you out it in a normal bin if you can't find a dog bin? I've done that before, so now I'm hoping it isn't a crime or something, eek, don't want to see myself on crimewatch!

hillsborough is terrible there are only 2 dog poo bins at the entrances but normal bins dotted around which i end up putting them in as my dog never poops just as we get there but not as we leave.

We go to Skegness a lot - we have a caravan there, where we are there is one dog bin on the front. The East Lindsay district council have however now said that you can put your poop in any bin with no problem. I have also used bins at home but think its a problem because its classed as clinical waste or something like that and has to go for processing in a different way??
What annoys me is that the dog wardens are printing the signs on the pavements saying pick it up or pay up. Ok I totally agree, pick it up - then what???

I think at the moment SCC are at capacity with only one guy who goes round emptying the bins, so until further funding is forthcoming then no more bins. Not entirely sure though.
How about starting a biodegradable poop pile at home? Allocate a small pit (away from usual compost and growing/play areas) and dump the waste there, covering with charcoal/sand/sawdust periodically?
Or install one of these? http://www.compost-bin.org/pet-waste-digester/

Edit to add: The lack of, or request for more dog bins is a common issue. AFAIK local people make a request to the Council for a dog bin in a certain area - if enough people request it then SCC pay a visit to the area to assess the level of the problem. Then if it is identified as a severe issue the site is added to the list for a bin when funding/resources become available. So it's people power and funding again as always.

that is ok but if your on a long walk or in the park you dont want to carry a stinky poop around with you.
