a woman said "so its true what they say about dogs and aniseed" what did she mean?

Dunno if it's relevent to what you saw on tv but just done a quick google on it and seems that dogs are really attracted to aniseed and its described as "aniseed is to dogs as catnip is to cats"

As an alternative to fox hunting, there is something called a drag hunt.

A rag, soaked in aniseed is dragged over a course, and the hounds follow this scent instead of the scent of the fox.

(of course it's not as much fun tearing a piece of rag apart at the finish, as it is doing that to a fox... :roll: j/k )

aniseed was also the substance used for disrupting fox hunting - as dogs are more attracted to it than they are to the fox scent!
