Is there any kind of tool that could be fitted so people can check their spelling and grammar before they post? I've seen similar tools on other boards.

Or even go as far as implementing 'spelling and grammar mods' who have too much time on their hands but can go round altering posts so they make sense.

There is already a spell check option on the advanced reply box, or do you mean something that automatically checks spelling even if people don't enable it?

Purdy - yes, maybe. I can't see a spelling check in 'go advanced' though. Strix - when is FF going to make an add-on that corrects other people's spelling and grammar so the glaring problems don't have to hurt your eyes?!

For those of us who use Internet Explorer, you might want to try the free http://www.iespell.com/ tool. I use this not only on Sheffield Forum, but also any other site where you type in these text box thingy bobs. After installing, you simply right click after you've typed a message and select 'Check Spelling'.
