Well, something like that. So young business owners (like me) can network without the pretention that comes with a lot of the events around the city!

And not just creatives - any businesses!

Yeah this would be good. I sterted my business about a year ago, I've been to a few events in sheffield for young business owners but nothing great. Would be great to talk to similar people who could possibly offer tips etc.

would this be covered by the 'personal development' group that is in the pipeline? (did I get that title right?)

Possibly, I guess, there may be some overlap? (for example, there's things like GTD methodology, which is something creative self-employed types may be interested in, in terms of self-organisation, motivation, beating procrastination and staying on the boil etc). It may well be worth running as a seperate section, I don't know. In any case, I'd be very interested in it. Thumbs up from me!

Business networking & business startups are different from personal development & growth although I can see there are, as Geoffrey says, overlaps. For example (and I have noted your previously expressed views about NLP Strix so the merits of NLP are not what I am discussing here) NLP is used extensively by executive coaches when working with their clients to achieve business oriented goals/objectives. At the same time NLP is often also used as a personal development tool.

The needs of business and business starts up, are, however entirely different from the needs of people interested in their personal development and growth - again not something which I wish to discuss in very much more depth here.

Yep - I like this idea. I too have found the events and open days either plain just dont apply, very long winded and sometimes just turn into a sales pitch.

I think I personally would use a section like this regularly - even if only for information, if not giving and sharing advice and resources.
