I'm sitting here starving, and was also reading that thread by spyro about falling to your death. I started pondering. Like you do.... ;)

Q: If you can have a last meal before you die, what will it be ? (And why?)

i.e. what's your most most most favourite food that you think it's worth dying for ? (Pun intended.)

------
For me, I'd have that fresh trout meal again I once did in Wales. Apparently, the fish was out of the river behind the pub ! It was fried straight-away. Mmm...

Mine would be lamb roasted until all the fat has gone crispy. Trouble is the restaurant I'd want it from is in Rhodes - think the Grim Reaper would wait?

Depends on the circumstances surrounding my impending demise. If I was just about to be killed, it would have to be the perpetrator, covered in brown sauce and slapped between a large crusty loaf.......:D

I could die happy if I'd just eaten my sainted mother's corned beef and colcannon, with beer to wash it all down.

Since my waistline won't be a concern, I think I'll have a chicken dinner from this place http://www.pollardville.com/ along with:

Jalapeno corn bread from Ron's Ribs. (If you've got sinus trouble, this stuff will cure it!)

Dim sum from Tin's Tea House http://www.tinsteahouse.com/

From Ocean chinese restaurant in San Francisco http://www.sfsurvey.com/restaurant_details.asp?id_restaurant=1306&n=restaurants their beef chow fun.

From La Morenita, chile rellenos and beef flautas with salsa verde

rice

frijoles refritos (refried beans)

their house tomato salsa (always fresh, none of that cooked stuff) served with handmade corn tortilla chips and enough guacamole to float a battleship

and for dessert, flan (mexican custard) and a hot fudge sundae from Dairy Queen.

Burp.

To drink, oddly enough just plain water.

They won't have to execute me. I'll keel over on my own.

Ho, Sierra, that was hilarious! How much space do you have? What a riot.

Must say one of my fave eateries is Guyma's in Tiburon, CA. Their mesquite smoked squid was out of this world (when I wasn't veggie). Do you know it?

My last meal before being shot at dawn would have to be a divinely perfect fondue savoyarde with emmenthal, appenzeller and compté cheese, cooked without oil, plenty of garlic and a tad of dry white wine and with the crustiest fluffiest baguette. Assisted to it's final destination by a wonderful bottle of finest French red wine. A Julienas would do, or a Morgon. Or a Moulin ŕ Vent. Or a Brouilly. Or a Macon Villages, or a ....

Well, I might have to leave a little something on my plate. :hihi:

Actually lizz, I DO know that restaurant, but I've only been there once before. My cousin and his wife who live in Novato had their youngest daughter baptized, and the entire clan met there later on. Tiburon is less than twenty miles from Novato. The food was wonderful. I had the tamalitos. So good.

Their website http://www.guaymas.com/

Good for you, I should go veggie again. So much better for your health. Wow. Do you know your wines! And don't laugh, Dairy Queen hot fudge sundaes are really good!

Well, actually.....Your last supper. If you knew you were going to die and were given a choice of what to eat for your last meal, what would you choose?

I think the best thing ever invented is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (smooth not crunchy peanut butter and damson plum jelly) on whole wheat bread with a tall, cold glass of milk.

Think I'm feeling a bit peckish...I'm going to the kitchen to make a PB&J! :D

Now for desert either strawberry cheesecake or treacle pudding with custard.

Thank you, Joto, for clearing that up. I didn't know it was different there. I guess I'd have trouble swallowing a peanut butter and jello sammie!!
