It's really popular actually, though I don't watch it. It regularly gets 6 million viewers and gives Emmerdale a run for its money.

i quite like it, a modern day Nationwide, not keen on the woman presenter, Adrian Chiles i do like, seems to be the bbc's golden boy at the moment, he'll have is own chat show soon, wait and see.

Yes, but Emmerdale is a soap, and The One Show is a topical programme. Someone likened it to Nationwide. No way. ! Nationwide could run rings round it.

It reminds me of day time TV at night - topics covered include - someone's sick hedgehog, morris dancing, the best lawnmowers around, and of course bloody Carol Thatcher reporting on things for no apparent reason - with her Johnathon Woss style accent - Weally Weally annoying!

Adrian Chiles is better suited to working lunch - I dont mind him so much as the pathetic reports and general dullness of the programme.

Someone refresh my memory - what was on before this? At the 7-7.30 slot?

Never seen it but it sounds like it gets a ridiculous share against Emmerdale.

Wednesday ratings:

BBC1's magazine series The One Show pulled in another big rating, attracting 5.5 million and a 25% share between 7pm and 7.30pm, just below its series high of 5.7 million which the programme attracted last month.

Emmerdale 7.1 million.

Chiles would be perfect... much better than Ryder for their new lengthy football contracts. Thankfully they aren't too PC otherwise the boz-eyed one from Dragons' Den would be on instead.

He's a genuine football fan that reaches all audiences... interviewed in Zoo this week.

It might not be too bad if it wasn't on every weekday, say just once or twice a week.

At least then we wouldn't have to suffer it as much.

Hate it as well Pattricia. I get the same feeling with the show 'Something for the weekend' although it is slightly better.

Weird! I actually kinda enjoy both The One Show and Something for the Weekend... Anything with Chiles in it is good, by my reckoning - I used to watch Working Lunch just for him, and eventhiough I've no keen interest in business etc, he kept me tuning back in. And The One Show is similar. As for Something for the Weekend, it's a nice contrast to all the up-themselves cookery shows that are contantly on these days, and as with The One Show, it doesn't take itself seriously at all, which is good in my book!

It must be noted, however, that I am particularly stressed these days, so crave light-hearted non-sense, and may perhaps be more biased towards this genre of programming than I normally would!

The content of the show is quite good, but the presenters !!!:gag:Adrian Chiles scowling, and with a Brummie accent, and the Irish bird with an Irish accent so broad, I feel sea-sick.Are there no other presenters who can speak with a decent accent ?::roll:

Well its an old thread but the title still works!

Just watched Chris Evans on this some of the most cringeworthy tv I have seen in many years.

Chris wearing a christmas jumper is just not funny anymore and the rest of the show was no better.

As the famous quote goes "where did it all go wrong" to think I used to quite like him on the breakfast show.

Joanl

It's not my cup of tea, although it was much better before Jason Manford left. He was great.

Daybreak however, is AWFUL.

'The one show' is pratically 'frost/nixon' compared to the visual torture that is 'live from studio five'

This is an old thread,I started 3 years ago, and The One Show is still as bad.!! With a different woman presenter, but still with Chris Evans on a Friday (no wonder Adrian Chiles left) is it me, or do I just dont get it !!

They try to squeeze everything into the programme, jumping from this to that, with forced laughter from the crew, and small studio audience. This show really gets on my nerves. !!

It's not the worst show on TV, there's a lot of strong competition for that award. Eastenders is worse & I'd believe there are even worse programmes than that.

It's appallingly bad, but that just makes it average compared to the rest of the stuff on TV nowadays.

Sometimes they have some interesting guests on but the format does my head in …

A few sentences from the guest

Cut to a article on gardening

Another sentence or two from the guest

Cut to some grainy archive footage

Smiles and small talk from the two presenters

Cut to a embarrassing new presentation

05-06-2011, 20:32
No. It's not the worst.

It isn't presented by Ant & Dec, Cat Deeley, Harry Hill, the bloke who tries to make funny comments on that 'animals' version of you've been framed when all we want is to look at the clips, or any of the non-entities from the Lottery Show presenting it, so therefore it's not the worst.

T'ain't very good, though.

Seems Bleakley & Chiles are getting the axe from Daybreak some time after its £15 million launch. Weren't they poached from the BBC for huge amounts of money? What do the advertisers think now?
