There's already an answer for this one- it's against forum rules to offer fake goods on SF so please report anyone offering fakes to the moderating team.

Trading Standards - more like - these days the police only like to get involved in wholesale fraud and forgery and rarely like to be seen to get their hands dirty in one-off individual cases

The threads which had all the proof on and the false photos thay had posted were deleted and in the end I had to deal with it myself by taking the person to court and winning my case against them but still they are allowed to carry on selling things on here so what is the point of reporting anything? A feedback system as on ebay would be a much better idea imo.

perhaps the solution is more rigorous and consistent application of the forum rules?

I had a similar experience with another matter. When I reported the incident, it didnt get handled at all well and I just got messed around so I took matters in to my own hands. :(

You were warned not to start a thread about it because it is bad form to threaten to moan on the main forum if you don't hear what you want from the Helpdesk.

Precisely what action do you believe we should be taking other than what has already been taken? Nobody from this forum encouraged you to donate goods to anyone else. There is a disclaimer on the rules for the classifieds which points out that it is your responsibility to hand over your money for goods only when you have checked that they are fit for purpose and what you want.

Whenever a legal issue exists OF COURSE the threads are removed from open forum (there is little else that we can do legally). The police could still have seen them if they had contacted Geoff direct on his email.

This thread is not about what has happened to you personally, for which you must bear some responsibility. The suggestions area is meant to be a way of improving the forum by taking in suggestions. If you plan on misusing the area then your stay on the forum is likely to be much shorter than you'd planned.

Yes that would be right, those that sticks to the rules and want to make it aware to other members about the unfairness that goes on gets threatened with suspension, while those clearly breaking the rules are allowed to carry on. What proof do you need? Duplicate posting, same tel no given on both threads. All you need do is check the isp nos which can be done within a few seconds, but she is still a member and still posting.

My point exactly! No action has been taken!! She is still decieving people into give her things for free under the pretence that she will be selling them at a charity event but makes a different account to sell them on, she has broken the rules of the forum having 2 accouts in which she is selling exactly the same items with exactly the same tel no.' You had many replies from other members who she had done the same to but you deleted all the replies and just left her thread there

Misuse by looking out for other members? and standing up to those people that think it is alright to cheat and lie for their own greedy gain? Anyone can see by looking back through my posts that I give a lot of things away for free which I love doing as long as I know they are going to genuine people who really need them, I really thought I would be helping sick children so I gave a lot of expensive things away that I was told would be auctioned, Only to find many of these being sold on under a bogus id, I'm sorry you don't think I am justified in being a tad bit disappointed but please feel free to ban me if you wish, delete all my posts so no other members can see what is being said which might make you feel better, I'm not here to win votes, I don't care what others think of me. But what I do know is I will not be bullied, cheated and lied to by anyone!

We do not discuss bans with any person other than the person in question, but that doesn't mean that no action is taken.

I do think there is an issue if SF permits known problematic users to post without information on those users being shared amongst the upstanding members of this community

perhaps the vBulletin ratings system for users could be applied for the sole use of the classifieds? or the notes available on user accounts could be utilised? perhaps by members pming a mod to ask if there is a current known issue with somebody who trades on the classifieds, and those notes kept up to date?

I agree with this - cant see any reason why it shouldnt be possible to ban someone from a thread, subject topic and forum because at the end of the day we are entitled to be protected from known problem users.

i have voted for this as i do post threads in all 3 sell/wanted/swap&free sections and i have had no end of time wasters!!!!

'asking for my phone number'==never phone/text

'asking for my house address'==never showing up

'asking to meet them in town'==never show up

so yes i think it is a great idea then it would save people mountains of time with time wasters they can buy/sell to the users that have good feedback to avoid item re-lists or 'mods' removing the item as its been on to long or to many times

iv bought loads of things off the sales ..but why should i have to buy from super market car parks,or other parking areas,the other thing theirs some on here that are selling or wanting items,and its a wind up..you set off they dont come ..waiting for ages,i know its not ebay but some think its a joke:rant::rant:

i agree with you spritulist i have been buying and selling on this forum for months and months

when i sell anything i always allow the buyer to come to our home (as it should be)
when i am buying something i expect the same (go to the sellers home)

but 9/10 times the buyer wants to meet me in places like 'hillsbrough park' or in the city center somewhere

and in some cases when i want to buy anything again 9/10 i am not allowed to go to there home it has mainly to be arranged to 'meet' somewhere

and on top of this i have asked for peoples home address to go and pick up the item and they either give me a false address which turns out to be a empty house or when they say they are 'in all day' i go to there home and no one is in

to me this lot is poor they should have a sales feedback score like ebay does so it will reduce this type of problem that people are mainly having

We actually purchased some software over 2 years ago to develop a feedback area for local businesses. The biggest problem we have is that people become very impassioned when they receive poor service and this often leads to them posting sometimes false and defamatory comments about a company. This can lead to numerous attempts to take legal action against the forum rather than the user who wrote the comments. For this reason we are continuing to try and develop a way forward, but for the time being the idea is on hold. This affects a lot of web sites, including eBay where they have recently discussed removing negative feedback and just having positive. We may do something similar.
