Every Morning this week (7.30am ish)and most of last week, a prison van has been heading south on the M1 just north of Meadowhall.

There have been two police cars at the front , one at the rear and a Helicopter hovering in the sky above. All with thier Blues and Two's going.

Presumably it's coming from Wakefield Prison (cat A) ang going to Sheffeild Crown Court.

I am really curious to know who's inside.

It cant be Sheffield Crown court as it has passed me between thw M18 and Parkway once or twice.

Last week I was heading North about three ish and the convoy was going back, up to Wakefield or where ever and they had no motor bike out riders with them so to get every one in to lane one so they could pass they had a police man hanging out of the rear nearside window of a Volvo traffic car.

They must have been traveling at about seventy five to eighty miles an hour and this poor bloke was waving madly at all the cars to get them to move over.

"Insnt that illegal, to hang out of a moving car on the motorway" I said to my mate who was with me.

"Yeah probably but thats the least of his worries. Whats he going to say when he gets back and his gaffer say's wheres your hat"

I nearly crashed laughing

I saw a similar convoy heading along Penistone Road a couple of years ago - but it was a bit more heavy duty.
IIRC it consisted of 2 Motorbikes, 1 Traffic Volvo, 2 Armoured Land Rovers (like those you used to get in Northern Ireland, except in battenburg livery), 1 Prisoner Transport truck, another armoured Land Rover, and another Volvo.
All under the watchful eye of a helicopter.

Must have been someone pretty serious for all that!

There's a big drugs/laundering case on in Nottingham but would they commute all the way from Wakefield?

Think I saw this same convoy going down Brocco Bank around 10:15.

A convoy as described comes passed me nearly everyday southbound as I drive northbound. It's about 8:15 around Junction 29-30 and has done since at least last week.

The convoy goe's to nottingham city crown court every morning. I work in nottingham every day, they also have got police on foot outside the courts with guns,and sniffer dogs. Now you all no

I would say that it is probably the current case of the two asylum seekers caught for sex trafficking in Sheffield.

These went past me at about 10:15 on Penistone Road near Morrisons, heading toward town. Strange thing was there were no passengers in the BMW's, just the drivers :confused:

I have seen a prison van and a couple of police cars going along Meadowbank road in rotherham heading towards meadowhall & m1, i think it was monday.

I commute to Bradford 5 days a week and have seen this convoy. I was telling my best mate about it not sure he beleived me so glad i saw this.

It can be coming from HMP Wakefield as I see it on M1 going South between M62 / M1 J42 and Wakefield so may be its coming from Leeds.

My guess its just coppers wasting money.

PS: When you see them Prison Vans entering court the press are always sticking the cameras to to the windows to take snaps, but ya never see a picture of a prisonner sitting in the van - What a waste of camera film

A couple of nights ago i was heading down the M1, probably around Wakefield at about 10:45pm and overtook a convoy of 13 police vans led by one car. What's that all about then?
