View Full Version : Charity events forum Ben21 28-03-2008, 12:40 a charity event forum to list all up coming charity events. balmoral 28-03-2008, 14:04 GOOD idea Ben  WILL anyone SEE this though ?? Geoff 28-03-2008, 14:12 Do you mean will they see the new forum (should it be created)? Or do you mean will we see his suggestion? The answer to the latter is obviously yes, ;) Classic Rock 28-03-2008, 15:29 This would be best suited in the Going Out section. Charity events are listed there anyway....aren't they? I don't know if there would be enough events going on to warrant a section of its own and indeed are there people who specifically look out for charity events to go to? JoeP 28-03-2008, 15:36 I do quite a lot of charity related projects and can see both sides of the argument. A special Forum might gather stuff up in to one place, but most people don't decide what to do / where to go based on whether soemthings a charity event or not. What MIGHT work is a Forum where Charities and Voluntary Groups could post details about themselves, links to their web sites, etc. ? sheffbloomer 28-03-2008, 15:46 Good idea! :) littlepaws 28-03-2008, 16:48 I think this is a great idea! Ben21 28-03-2008, 17:49 yea this is what i mean. one sort of area where people can say this event is going on or please visit this website and donate. We should all love charity and encourage this sort of thing. Eric_Collins 29-03-2008, 16:46 could this also include jumble sales and such like ? Ben21 29-03-2008, 21:26 yea anything that is for charity. Strix 31-03-2008, 09:05 don't most of the charity posters here have signatures with their chosen charity in them? that way the charity is advertised all over the forum - if they post everywhere on the forum ;) the events are already catered for by the events section - though I notice things like dog shows usually wind up in the pets section rather than events Is there a facility where a thread can be in more than one section? perhaps use could be made of vBulletin's permanent redirect facility in these cases? (I'll start a new thread shall I? ) andco 31-03-2008, 09:09 don't most of the charity posters here have signatures with their chosen charity in them? that way the charity is advertised all over the forum - if they post everywhere on the forum ;) the events are already catered for by the events section - though I notice things like dog shows usually wind up in the pets section rather than events Is there a facility where a thread can be in more than one section? perhaps use could be made of vBulletin's permanent redirect facility in these cases? (I'll start a new thread shall I? ) It's surprising how often signatures are NOT read. At one stage I used to have stuff like this in my signature and people still asked for information that was publicly available. Strix 31-03-2008, 09:14 I suppose the problem is that it's possible to turn off so many features of the forum, or to ignore the increasing clutter on any given screen andco 31-03-2008, 09:20 I suppose the problem is that it's possible to turn off so many features of the forum, or to ignore the increasing clutter on any given screen I'm talking about back in the days when there was less scope for turning things off. Strix 16-04-2008, 01:28 how about the forum calender is just activated - with hyperlinks to the threads? Geoff 12-06-2008, 14:36 At this time we are not looking on splitting out charity events from other events in our two current forums. Please continue to post there and we will bring a way of easily viewing all charity events from within that single area (later 2008 during major upgrade). |
