View Full Version : New sub-forum for rehoming animals Moonbird 28-03-2008, 12:58 Please could there be a seperate area for all of the rehomes, studs and pets for sale? This could be moderated seperately. Geoff 28-03-2008, 13:13 Hi Moonbird, thanks for the suggestion. With regards to the moderating side of your suggestion, it's important to note that Sheffield Forum is moderated reactively - i.e. we deal with reported posts and emails alerting us to content on the site. Therefore, if we were to create this area you suggested, it would be 'moderated' in the same way. I just wanted to make this clear :) pinklady 28-03-2008, 14:06 good idea, but could i also suggest a different format than what people are expected to use, i find the old one quite confussing to follow Lindseyw 28-03-2008, 17:01 The format for rehoming animals is key to the harmony of pets. It's not that difficult to fill in a template is it ? Or do you mean something else is confusing ? Moonbird 28-03-2008, 22:06 I think that the only thing that does make the rehoming format a bit difficult for some people is that it might be easier if it was species specific , I would be happy to modify it to be more specific if thats a route we could take :) Moonbird 29-03-2008, 18:28 Hi Moonbird, thanks for the suggestion. With regards to the moderating side of your suggestion, it's important to note that Sheffield Forum is moderated reactively - i.e. we deal with reported posts and emails alerting us to content on the site. Therefore, if we were to create this area you suggested, it would be 'moderated' in the same way. I just wanted to make this clear :) Ah right I actually thought that the area could be really low maintenance if we did it as we do now with the rehoming threads and closed them once all the information was up?, I can't speak for the other group leaders but I would be prepared to put the effort into doing this, and keeping the area problem free :) Strix 31-03-2008, 07:48 Although it was me who argued the toss for keeping the rehoming ads when everybody else wanted to get rid of them, my reasoning was that we were able to provide alternatives to rehoming. Closing the ads removes this added benefit, so I see no point in the rehoming ads staying at all - especially as they seem to have moved into a new phase of providing a stage for backyard breeders Unless something is done to sort out the 'template' to a useable state, any ad not conforming to the template is removed, and every ad is closed with a standard GL note about alternative ideas and warnings over unsuccessful rehoming, they will remain detrimental to the group Geoff, is it possible to make a sub forum where all new threads are auto-closed when they're posted? That would also prevent the rash of other users who manage to become abusive about the whole situation if there isn't a GL about slimsid2000 31-03-2008, 15:16 I would just like to point out that it was my origional suggestion a couple or so years ago to have a seperate pet owners section. Just thought I should be given due credit. Strix 01-04-2008, 02:53 have you got link to that suggestion sid? was that post relevant to something in this thread btw? are you volunteering to look after the rehoming threads or something? Geoff 02-04-2008, 22:57 Outcome While this idea was popular (over 15 thumbs up over 24 hours) it will take a proper review of the forum's policies before we can make a final decision. For the time being I have struck through the idea - watch this thread for further info. |
