Yeah, it takes no effort at all now. You can make huge amounts without breaking into a sweat.

A couple of potato tips:

When making roast potatoes don't use butter or vegetable oil to baste them. Use goose fat it's so much tastier!!!

If you don't like mash potatoes straight try Aligot:

900g of King Edwards
225g of Cantal (lovely french cheese, if you can't get hold it try Lancashire mature cheddar)
2 large cloves of garlic
50g unsalted butter
125ml double cream
Salt and freshly cracked black pepper

Beautiful!

I also like that dish where you slice potatoes up and cook them in cream, garlic, onions and cheese in layers for about 6 hours.

My favourite comfort food is Chips and beans.

But favourite meal would be

Tag pasta with a sunripened tomato, garlic, basil and mushroom sauce. simple but effective.

Whenever I go out for a meal with a large group of friends, there is always someone who doesn't like Indian or doesn't like Chinese, Italian, traditional english etc. What dish would you love to see on the menu of a "combined concept restaurant" If that makes sense! Really don't know what mine would be... gonna have a think :loopy:

A combination of a delicious home cooked sunday dinner with elements of indian and chinese cuisine ..... e.g.

Duck , egg fried rice , roast potato , stuffing , mango chutney

or

A big spring roll stuffed with roast chicken , stuffing , fried rice and spicy indian curry

or

Spiced potatoes, shredded pork and stuffing

or even

fried rice , yorkshire pudding , roast potato and crispy duck smothered in curry :)

oh...........so..............hungry

Parmesan (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53377&highlight=parmesan) but the nearest takeaway is 110 miles away so I don't get to enjoy as often as I would like!!

Well , obviously , but not many restaurants specialise in that sort of stuff ..... gotta work for it :( ;)

Anyway , aside from the flesh and all the weird dishes i was fantasising about earlier , sunday dinner is definately the best !

Nearly as good as a nice , fresh , succulent human brain

If you're after a parmo you I've found a place on London Rd that does 'em - think it's called Parmier.... You should check it out, although with a name like that I'd have thought you were a kebab man ;)

the crispy duck pizza at BRB is fantastic.

I almost always seem to order the Penne Rigatta no matter where I am eating. Unless it's not on the menu, obviously....

You know, I've had this weird craving for Spag Bol all day today. I don't even like red meat, but I still really fancy a big plate of Spaghetti Bolognese :suspect:

I like so many different kinds of food, I'd find it hard to settle on just one. But I do love cooking and eating risotto, especially when I'm hungover, it's great, like posh savoury porridge only with more texture (?!?), and very warming and comforting.

You know I've heard risotto is not so much about what you put in it [some people put Snow Crab in or Madagascan king prawns in] but the stock that you make it with. Risotto is a wonderful food but unfortunately can seem quite daunting to people who have never cooked it before. It's actually really easy and as Dan says very warm and comforting.

My favourite meal has got to be a Sunday roast dinner with goose fat roasted potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, roast lamb or beef, stuffing and a rich gravy! Can't be it.

Fillet steak (cooked rare) served with a creamy peppercorn sauce, chips, garlic mushrooms and fried red onion. Delish!

I dunno that I have a favourite, like Jon says it's mainly about the stock (and the butter, rice and a bit of wine). But a simple mushroom risotto (with really chunky bits of mushroom, and some re-hydrated porcini) is good, and so is one with roast butternut squash and sage. And the best one I ever ate was a seafood risotto, with a big langoustine sitting on top guarding it.
