I currently live at home in Dronfield, me and the girlfriend are thinking of moving into an apartment or house somewhere near or in the city centre. We'd most likely want 2 bedrooms, no more than a couple of miles from city centre and need parking spaces.
Whats everyones thoughts? We have about £150,000 to spend. I like the look of the Wards brewery development, also in the perfect spot.
There seems to be more sprouting up quickly, but places like rightmove just have the same old places in west one and riverside exchange. Does anyone know of some good developments that will be completed say this time next year, or know of a website where i can keep updated?
we have sold out flat under a part exchange on a brand new home, but cala homes are selling our flat through winkworth for a VERY competitive price. Give them a call tomorrow to find out more (it isn;t showing on their website) its in cornish place, in the kelham island quarter (5mins walk from city centre)

i agree - the coversions (like ours) tend to hold their value and you get so much more character and sq footage for your money!

Thanks for the advice, we arent looking to move until Feb or so of next year. I am slightly worried about the number of apartments. Are they all taken or are many still not sold?
yeah went ahead with it - gonna be a barnsley girl in penistone..... :o
If I was you I'd stick to buying a terrace in a good area they will always resell . To many flats being thrown up, a lot of them are either standing empty or rented and will just turn into slums in the sky like they did in the 60's.

I don't think they turn into slums as they are privately purchased and I for one would demand (via the property's management company and landlord) that they are kept in a good standard or repair.
In fact circulated to all owners is a schedule detailing all proposed expenditure over the coming year, some of which is a redecorating/renewal reserve budget, so panic not.
I'm by no means an expert in this, but where the flats of the 60's more council run affairs?
My two pence worth anyways.........
