Hey,

I'm 22 yrs old and I currently work in telesales but feel this type of work undermines my capability. I wondered if anyone who is successful in the sales industry could pass on any advice, on what is the best path for me to take if I was to go into face to face sales?

I realise this is a bit of a long shot but any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hi there

what sort of industry are you in at the moment? For example, if you work for a banking organisation selling financial services products, it's worth applying for direct customer service jobs in banks/building societies. If you are successful at what you have been doing so far on the telephone, many organisations would consider you for a customer facing sales role. Most such roles do require 'sales experience', but that does include telephone sales. What would you like to get into, is it the same industry you're in now, or something different?

Get out of telesales asap. I've done sales for donkeys years - bashing a keyboard and cold calling Yellow Pages is not and never has been sales.(I started out with Liberty Life).
I started on a "sales desk" - incoming calls for specialist quotations which included follow ups, customer liaison etc. But no cold calling. I then developed relationships with companies i bought from and sold too and kept an ear to the ground for other jobs. I moved to a similar job after a couple of years ,but a different industry in a better environment with more money which then eventually led to an external job.
