Hi, I'm thinking of trying the special K diet, but before I go out and buy loads of special K I was wondering if anyone has tried it and if it works? I'm not expecting it to work overnight and will also exercise.

I'd go out and buy some cheaper cereal if I were you, eating two bowls a day of any of them is bound to shift some weight!

Can't imagine anything more boring, myself - but good luck with it!

A strictly lettuce only diet?

I think a cress only diet would be more boring. :)

I doubt it's physically possible to eat enough lettuce in a day to get the number of calories you need to survive. You'd have to do nothing BUT eat lettuce.

*shudders*

I think I'm a bit diet phobic, to be fair.

A diet of Russell Brand 'jokes'?

With the sound muted...I'd be fully satisfied ;)

Beautiful man, shame about the voice.

I think I'm a bit diet phobic, to be fair.Me too.

I'm lucky in the way that whatever I eat, I stay thin. Therefore I spend my days munching loads of chocolate, crisps and other calorie filled foods with no detremental visible effects.

You'd do better re evaluating your diet than doing fads like that :)

if you really want to do a cereal diet, dont do special k as it has lots more calories than other cereals! You're better off with weetabix, even rice krispies are healthier!

Is this the diet which stops you seeing buns on people's shirts and the telephone turning into a sandwich?:hihi:

My advice would be to stop cutting corners it works for a few weeks and then goes back on. Try weight watchers it works if you stick to our points ad you can eat what you want in reason.

Shortcut diets never ever work

Try the steak diet. Just eat lots of rare rump steak and onion rings.

I agree, it would be good to kick start your diet, but as soon as you start eating properly again you will put it straight back on. I lost quite a lot of weight on WW, but you have to be in the "zone" because I tried it since halfheartedly and lost nothing!!!

Just check the amount of sugar in Special K ... you'll be surprised.

These fad diets do not work. Just eat sensibly, cut the junk food to the bare minimum and exercise regularly would be the healthier option.

Beware of just eating lettuce ! There is a chemical in lettuce that makes you sleepy. One farmer got a bit peckish once in his field and had two for lunch. He woke up 24 hours later thinking he'd been abducted by aliens or something to account for missing time, until someone told him it was the lettuce :)

Cress is much better, at least it tastes of something :P

Yes- it's a natural opiate.

You'd be fine if you stuck to iceberg lettuce because it's only present in very small amounts in iceberg lettuce- but you'd be bored to tears by the blandness of it all.

If you branched out into the darker green leafy lettuces I'm afraid you're going for a loooooong sleep if you eat more than a couple of heads of lettuce a day.

I would not recommend doing a diet like Special K unless you really need to lose weight fast for an event or something? The trouble is, as soon as you stop the diet, all the weight will just come back. Also, I would say it was pretty bad nutritionally speaking and Special K is also pretty high in sugar. Always be wary of "low fat" products....they generally have to get their flavour from somewhere and often it means they are high in sugar. If you have to do a cereal diet, you'd be better doing something like a natural bran product...but make sure you are getting vitamins from fruit and veg too.

Thanks for all your responses, I think people are right when they say the wieght would just come back on. Think I'll just have to be more patient and eat less crisps lol.
