I was driving home up the Parkway about 12.45 and saw 4 police motorbikes with light and sirens going escorting bomb disposal squad van heading into Sheffield.

Anyone seen anything?

I saw them today speeding through Crookes accumpanied by severaql police motorcyclists.
They had syrons blazing. Whatever it is it looked pretty urgent.

Those bloody Muslims they let out of prison last Friday haven't waited long have they? :hihi:

I too saw them thru Crookes at about 01.05, they stopped all the traffic to be let thru, they were heading, I think to Hillsboro area

I was half joking. However there is a serious point behind the joke: all the recent talk about civil liberties has tended to obscure what terrorism is all about, ie killing people.

You can't have it both ways; if you don't want to take people's liberties away then you run an increased risk of terrorism.

I've just driven on Nursery Street and there were loads bobbys on there too. About 3 cars pulled up near the new footbridge.

i agree with you in part (the liberties/safety trade off), i was just pointing out it was a stupid thing to post as you will clearly incense people and possibly turn a valid thread into a flame war..

Who mentioned any race? Islam is a religion not a race. It is also a fact that the people in prison for suspected terrorism were muslim. You cannot preteted that this is not where the current threat comes from when it does.

was it a big white van with yellow/blue stripe down the side or a white land rover with red wings????

bomb disposal doesn't imply terrorism in any way, could be old WW2, etc.... unearthed in building works...

in that case it would have been much more sensible to say "those terrorist suspects" rather than "those muslims".. i don't believe you intended any racism in the post, i was just pointing out it was a stupid thing to post..

We had a suspect package at work once (last summer) and the bomb disposal van was called out. It had to come from nottingham and took over an hour!!! so lucky for us the package turned out to be nothing to worry about.

I used to go out with an Irish girl (with a very strong Kerry accent) when I lived in London. She was trying to catch a train once, but the station concourse was blocked with people and clearly nobody was going anywhere. She turned to ask another commuter, a man in a suit, if he knew what was going on.
