View Full Version : Bomb Disposal Squad in Sheffield? Hels 14-03-2005, 13:16 I was driving home up the Parkway about 12.45 and saw 4 police motorbikes with light and sirens going escorting bomb disposal squad van heading into Sheffield. Anyone seen anything? slimsid2000 14-03-2005, 14:08 I saw them today speeding through Crookes accumpanied by severaql police motorcyclists. They had syrons blazing. Whatever it is it looked pretty urgent. Those bloody Muslims they let out of prison last Friday haven't waited long have they? :hihi: dirtybobby 14-03-2005, 14:22 Originally posted by slimsid2000 Those bloody Muslims they let out of prison last Friday haven't waited long have they? :hihi: i can only imagine how much slating you are going to take for that one you bell end  BoppinBruce 14-03-2005, 14:22 I too saw them thru Crookes at about 01.05, they stopped all the traffic to be let thru, they were heading, I think to Hillsboro area slimsid2000 14-03-2005, 14:25 Originally posted by dirtybobby i can only imagine how much slating you are going to take for that one you bell end  I was half joking. However there is a serious point behind the joke: all the recent talk about civil liberties has tended to obscure what terrorism is all about, ie killing people. You can't have it both ways; if you don't want to take people's liberties away then you run an increased risk of terrorism. ilaria 14-03-2005, 14:27 you dont think its to do with muslims do you.......??? scottf 14-03-2005, 14:27 *please let someone blow hillsborough up, please let someone blow hillsborough up* Kristian 14-03-2005, 14:29 Hello? About 3 cars pulled up near the new footbridge. sanman 14-03-2005, 14:34 Hello? Where do you people get your ideas? Genuine question about Bomb Squad to racial abuse in record time! So speaks someone with what could be taken as a homophobic signature:o JoeP 14-03-2005, 14:37 Keep it on the subject - if this goes off in to racism / bigotry then I'll close the thread. Dj_Shadowman 14-03-2005, 14:40 Previous post......So speaks someone with what could be taken as a homophobic signature Omg - Roll on floor and lose control of my bodily functions. Kristian.....please, please, please reply to that post :D Kristian 14-03-2005, 14:41 Originally posted by sanman So speaks someone with what could be taken as a homophobic signature:o Have a word with yourself love. Firstly what's homophobic about avoiding a large person who is following you whether gay or straight? Secondly, as a large gay myself, I feel able to make such a joke! K x slimsid2000 14-03-2005, 14:43 Originally posted by Kristian Hello? Where do you people get your ideas? It is also a fact that the people in prison for suspected terrorism were muslim. You cannot preteted that this is not where the current threat comes from when it does. ilaria 14-03-2005, 14:44 kristian theres nothing wrong with being gay i have a female friend whos gay and has kids and lives with her lover. Martin_s 14-03-2005, 14:46 Excuse me but What the hell has this got to do with the bomb squad hitting sheffield.. FFS get back on topic and quit the bog standard "Muslim, yadda ya, etc... etc... " thread.. ... we've enough of that crud for petes sake! Yodameister 14-03-2005, 14:47 Originally posted by slimsid2000 Who mentioned any race? Islam is a religion not a race. So back when the IRA were killing British citizens on British soil I take it you were pointing out that the terrorist threat came from Christianity? Leebo84 14-03-2005, 14:47 back on to subject in hand..... what colour/shape was the bomb disposal van??? was it a big white van with yellow/blue stripe down the side or a white land rover with red wings???? bomb disposal doesn't imply terrorism in any way, could be old WW2, etc.... unearthed in building works... Tony 14-03-2005, 14:52 Mod: to back up Joe on this one - please get this back on topic fast, dirtybobby 14-03-2005, 14:53 Originally posted by slimsid2000 Who mentioned any race? You cannot preteted that this is not where the current threat comes from when it does. in that case it would have been much more sensible to say "those terrorist suspects" rather than "those muslims".. i don't believe you intended any racism in the post, i was just pointing out it was a stupid thing to post.. anyway, back on topic.. does anyone know for sure where these vans ended up then? feargal 14-03-2005, 14:53 Watch out Kristian, you're sounding like a paranoid schizophrenic... I am following myself around and I'm worrying me. Kristian 14-03-2005, 15:07 Originally posted by feargal Watch out Kristian, you're sounding like a paranoid schizophrenic... You'll get us into bother! :hihi: I've not heard anything about the bomb squad being in Hillsborough; believe me if they were, my neighbour would know about it! I'm sure she's got the street bugged! :suspect: K x Greenback 14-03-2005, 15:43 Originally posted by slimsid2000 You can't have it both ways; if you don't want to take people's liberties away then you run an increased risk of terrorism. Internment gets a big thumbs up from yourself then? You appear to advocate a police state. As for the bomb squad, no doubt it's another in a long line of attempts by the government to frighten people into accepting the erosion of 800 years of civil liberties... *tongue not-quite in cheek* owdlad 14-03-2005, 18:06 The bomb squad were called to a WW2 incendiary device found on allotments in Meersbrook. To keep this in line with a lot of previous posts I expect the Police will be looking for a gay german pilot who dropped the said device to burn some muslims... OK everbody happy now:D :D :D manortopper 14-03-2005, 18:11 Originally posted by scottf *please let someone blow hillsborough up, please let someone blow hillsborough up* I'd have thought you'd have wanted the bomb near Bramall Lane - after all it's the only chance your mob would have of going up this season. Kristian 14-03-2005, 23:15 Guys, Can't see this posted anywhere else, but the news story is here. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_yorkshire/4349079.stm) K x LoopyLou 15-03-2005, 07:22 We had a suspect package at work once (last summer) and the bomb disposal van was called out. It had to come from nottingham and took over an hour!!! so lucky for us the package turned out to be nothing to worry about. owdlad 15-03-2005, 07:52 Originally posted by Greybeard Bit disappointing that....I was hoping Kirky had called them out to deal with his early morning disturbances :D He has no need of that Greybeard. He will have rounded a posse made up of his pals the Moderators to do that for him :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: foo_fighter 15-03-2005, 09:47 Originally posted by sanman So speaks someone with what could be taken as a homophobic signature:o "I once had a large gay following, but I ducked into an alleyway and lost him!" Not sure about homophobic, but it's certainly sexist, surely it should read "I once had a large gay following, but I ducked into an alleyway and lost him/her!" or maybe "I once had a large gay following, but I ducked into an alleyway and lost 'em!" That'd be better. ;) :D DanSumption 15-03-2005, 10:40 Originally posted by Yodameister So back when the IRA were killing British citizens on British soil I take it you were pointing out that the terrorist threat came from Christianity? I used to go out with an Irish girl (with a very strong Kerry accent) when I lived in London. She was trying to catch a train once, but the station concourse was blocked with people and clearly nobody was going anywhere. She turned to ask another commuter, a man in a suit, if he knew what was going on. He replied, with discernable venom in his voice, "Yes, they've had to stop all of the trains because of bomb planted by an Irish person." She replied equally ferociously "how do you know it wasn't a bomb planted by a man?!?" Respect. foo_fighter 15-03-2005, 10:45 Originally posted by DanSumption I used to go out with an Irish girl (with a very strong Kerry accent) She sounded like Sen. John Kerry? Wierd! ;) DanSumption 15-03-2005, 10:52 Originally posted by foo_fighter She sounded like Sen. John Kerry? You should have heard her dad, he had a real bog-accent on him. He sounded like an Irish version of the Swedish Chef from the Muppets, and in all the time I knew him I never understood a single word that he said. (oops, do I detect another drift somewhat off topic) Hadron 15-03-2005, 11:15 With all the building work going on there are bound to be a few old bombs left over that are being dug up. No need to panic. Kristian 22-03-2005, 00:58 Originally posted by foo_fighter "I once had a large gay following, but I ducked into an alleyway and lost him!"
