View Full Version : Development at tenter street "VELOCITY" Maverick74 14-03-2005, 12:53 This seems like a potentially good investment... Does anyone know anything about it or have a view as to prices... Can anybody tell me if this is an expensive part of Sheffield.. Thought I read somewhere that the west Bar Police Station is coming down soon ? This Velocity development seems to be part of a larger scheme http://sccplugins.sheffield.gov.uk/press/news/aRelease.asp?akey=2297&Mon=01/10/2004 The traffic along Tenter St. and West Bar Green is pretty heavy and not likley to get better. 1Man&hisBMW 06-04-2005, 01:22 might be nice to look at, but i dont think its great to live in. still, the monkeys will buy, sell and make a profit. nick2 06-04-2005, 13:35 "The scheme has been designed not to over dominate the area" A huge white 11 storey concrete and steel tower was a good choice then. greensheff 06-04-2005, 14:26 the site next to velocity is also apartments all sold tho thro blundells and to be finished earlier Maverick74 27-05-2005, 16:38 Any one hear anything on grapevine about this development?? Availability? Prices? Has building work started yet and when is it due to finish Mattski 27-05-2005, 16:52 Originally posted by Maverick74 Any one hear anything on grapevine about this development?? Availability? Prices? Has building work started yet and when is it due to finish Hey Maverick, Ground clearance has finished and I think they are starting work on the foundations at the moment. Apparently there was some dispute with the contractors over pay so there has been a couple of weeks delay. Anyway, looks like it's moving again. However, you may want to look at progress on neighboughing Scotland Street which is up to 6 or 7 storeys now (final height being 14 or 15). Either way, the best apartments are likely to have already been sold off plan. You need to speak to Saxton Mee for Velocity or Blundells for Scotland Street. And Nick2, the velocity development will be 15 storeys not 11 but considering it's opposite the fairly large HSBC building I don't think it is out of place here. M Maverick74 27-05-2005, 17:24 Cheers for that..... Is it looking like it will be an upmarket development?? I looked into getting info on prices but drew a blank.. Have any idea of approx prices for a 1 bed in the development!!! ballpark figure would suffice.. Do you think the HSBC building will increase the prices much?? Guderian 28-05-2005, 13:49 No. The HSBC building is a hideous monstrosity!! At least, it is from the inside!! robbie 28-05-2005, 16:52 Tenter st is in the red light district :D sheff_minx 28-05-2005, 16:55 I sent for info on Velocity and got a letter saying they'd invite me to an open evening when they're released in order to "reserve my place" - slightly presumptuous!! No detail given about price or when they'll be ready Maverick74 28-05-2005, 17:44 Does 150K sound expensive for a 1 bedapt...... What kind of money are new apts going for in that area? skyfitsboy 01-06-2005, 09:32 The Scotland Street development opposite V1 doesn't have any renders or info any about the apartments anywhere, does anyone know if Blundells has actually sold any of these Scotland Street apartments. Here's a pic of the current stage of construction on Scotland Street: Pic 1 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/skyfitsboy/Sheffield%20Construction/ScotlandStreet310505.jpg) Pic 2 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/skyfitsboy/Sheffield%20Construction/ScotlandStreet2310505.jpg) greensheff 09-06-2005, 08:12 scotland st are all sold and so are velocity phase 1 prices were from 90k for a 1bedder you pay £1,000 non ref dep and then 10% of the purchase price on exchange Maverick74 17-06-2005, 21:57 Really... Where did you find that out greensheff???? Was that for both developments (starting at 90k)..? How much do you think phase 2 will cost in Velocity or will there even be a phase 2?? Thank for info.. keep postin please Maverick74 04-07-2005, 11:18 Does anyone have any update on the VELOCITY Development.... any info would be well appreciated Cheers greensheff 05-07-2005, 09:26 speak to the guy at blundells new homes he will let you know whats coming up to buy from plan lots planned if your looking for investment artful 05-08-2005, 21:30 Reply to Maverick74 Phase 2 is studio, 1 & 2 bed apartments Studio's to start at £80k 300 car park spaces in total 60,000 sq ft of office space Additional retail space (t.b.c) Hope this helps www.artfullodger.co.uk Maverick74 08-08-2005, 08:12 thanks Artful.... is there a website anywhere with actual prices on it.. There must be prices out there by now.... help Mav BraegHeneffe 08-06-2008, 08:52 It seems velocity is just about finished, but they are all to rent, and they still look all empty?! muddycoffee 08-06-2008, 09:14 It seems velocity is just about finished, but they are all to rent, and they still look all empty?! Are You confusing "Velocity Village" at west bar with "Velocity Tower" opposite Waitrose on the ring road at the Moore Street Roundabout ? Velocity tower is still awaiting the go ahead to extend upward, and it is rent only. BraegHeneffe 08-06-2008, 09:16 you are right, i didn't realise the other place was called velocity village, i've driven past a few times. So velocity tower is not complete then? muddycoffee 08-06-2008, 09:25 you are right, i didn't realise the other place was called velocity village, i've driven past a few times. So velocity tower is not complete then? No it is paused at 22 floors. There is an application in to add more floors for an apart-hotel and a skybar on the top floor. I for one am excited at the prospect of having a pint of beer on the 36th floor as I look down on the city below. It would really add an essential tourist activity to our city. I have been up observation towers and high up bars in foreign cities and it is a superb experience. Also if it goes ahead it will be the highest skybar in the north of England. BraegHeneffe 08-06-2008, 09:48 That would be amazing, I have been in the Sky bar at the Guinness brewery and it's a really great experience. We need loads more attractions in Sheffield, we have so much catching up to do.... |
