I just wanted to give a public thank you to 2 very dedicated and really great volunteers Adz and Adam.
Not only have this couple started, managed and completed the sponsored walk to raise funds for pets in crisis situations - every week they relentlessly turn up at the local pound and click away.
Taking photos in the pound isn't an easy job. Its noisy and stressful and also heartbreaking because you want to help them all and take them all home with you - however, they keep coming back and doing it week after week - and believe me - there are so many more good homes coming forward to adopt these dogs - because they can see their pics on the site.
However, todays' great big thank you goes to them for playing a part in saving a big gentle giant's life yesterday.
Recently diagnosed with diabetes, this confused boy had been dumped. Complete with just a few days worth of his life saving drugs. So - over the Easter holidays, a hectic time in all rescue places - this boy needing proper medical care - was abandoned. The staff at the kennels were desperate to get him out - this was no place for him and he had only a few days worth of medication left.
The contacted us at the rescue to see if we could help - roties are struggling big time all over the country - but a poorly roti? what hope is there. Luckily we have a fosterer who lives many miles away - and with an urgent situation - I spent most of my Easter Sunday trying to sort out getting him a place and moved. Without a moments hesitation - Adz and Adam went back to the kennels and picked him up to move him on his way and get him into a safe place. Driving over the pennines through the snow - with a dog much bigger than they were ever used to. He was settled in a home later that night.
Without them both, and my fantastic fosterer who now has him and who understands diabetes - I dread to think what would have happened to him. Thank you to all concerned in trying to keep this lovely gentle natured giant safe and alive.
I can't tell you my thoughts about whoever put him there in the first place or what possible reasons could justify it.
Thank you
rr
