View Full Version : Clinton Woods vs. Antonio Tarver - Predictions
sufc_tom 24-03-2008, 12:27 PREDICTIONS EVEN!
I have never seen Tarver fight, but his record is quite impressive and I think, despite how much I want Clint to do it, that he might be up against it.
PREDICTIONS EVEN!
I have never seen Tarver fight, but his record is quite impressive and I think, despite how much I want Clint to do it, that he might be up against it.
Didn't Tarver appear in Rocky 6? I doubt he is as focused as he used to be, but I do remember him being a credible fighter during his time.
MontyMole 24-03-2008, 21:29 4 years ago Tarver would've won hands down but going on Tarvers performance against Hopkins then I think the smart money is on Woods. Woods is at the peak of his career Tarver looks to be on that slippery slope.
I hope Clinton wins, hes a good fighter and a great bloke too, none of the poncy, over-the-top attitude that some boxers have IMO. My OH says this is his toughest fight to date, Ill be watching and supporting Clinton 100%. :D
I think Clinton will win, though it won't be easy. Tarver was in Rocky 6, and used the distraction of it as an excuse when Hopkins took him to school in his first fight after the filming.
SS Builders 07-04-2008, 09:52 i think tarver will be a different class to clinton, but hope im wrong......
I hear Woods has been training hard on smashing beer kegs into the ground to gather the brute strength Rocky had to go the distance.
I go for a Clinton stoppage in round 10,good luck Clinton.
*Wallace* 12-04-2008, 12:55 Really want Clinton to win good boxer and seems a right nice bloke.
i went to school with clinton he is a top bloke and i love him loads!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good luck hun xxx
happyhippy 13-04-2008, 00:13 Clinton stoppage, round 8, I say.
been up most the night trying to find a report on the fight.
only just seen a small link saying
'WOODS OUTCLASSED BY TARVER'
Clinton Woods lost his IBF light-heavyweight title on points to Antonio Tarver in Tampa.
Full story to follow
Gutted! hate it when you see the over hyped guys from the states etc come out on top against those down to earth guys from the uk. will have to look forward to the possible hatton/mayweather rematch!
Clinton was awful tonight. The key for him to win was his uppercut, and I don't think he threw a single one of those. Tarver in all fairness looked pretty sharp, and suprised me.
Seriously, Clinton should be ashamed at his performance.
AJ sheffield 13-04-2008, 17:15 .......................................
happyhippy 13-04-2008, 17:59 I have to agree. I watched the American 'telecast', and they were in the Woods corner between each round (with the mic volume up - I think they were hoping that the Yanks couldn't understand Sheffieldish).
In between the profanities were the words "You've ....... got to .......... hit him. You .......... can't ..........win if you .......... don't .......... hit him."
Every round. As early as the second round, the commentators were saying he wasn't focused, and I had to agree with them. Woods rarely went forward, and when he did, he was woefully unco-ordinated. As was said earlier, he never used the upper cut; to be honest, he never landed a blow really.
Astonishingly disappointing.
I set the alarm for 02:40 this morning to watch the fight on Setanta. The transmission was switched to freeview channel 38 at 03:00 which is top up tv (another monthly payment needed). Is it me or was there nothing about that on the adverts on Setanta for the fight?
I am thinking of compalining to Setanta about it but just want to get my facts right first.
