I'm trying to go from hardware (MC909, AW16G) to software (Sonar Home 6xl, Reaper, Kinetic 2, Acid) and it's doing my nut. Is there anyone out there who could spare me an hour or so to sort out the configuration of my hardware, software, drivers, soundcards, etc.?
I just want to set up some simple templates that I can use over and over, instead of constantly scrolling through menus and dropdowns and getting nowhere.
Cheers,
Ebs
Use the following to extract Wav files from your AW16G backups:

Then drop them into something like Acid for mixing.

Thanks for the advice, but I've already sussed importing AW16G wavs - I had to burn them to an audio CD and then rip them to wav again. It's soundcards and soft synths and midi tracks and routing that're driving me mad.
I'd just about managed to get the internal soundcard to work ok-ish, but since I plugged in a USB soundcard to start recording, it's all gone to pot again. Session Drummer tracks I set up don't play any more, wav files sometimes play and sometimes don't, etc.....I've fiddled with drivers, turned internal card on and off, tried to run wave profile (it won't work any more)...
All I want to be able to do is:
Create MIDI tracks with useable sounds (Sonar seemed to offer that)
Record live instruments and vocals (external USB seemed the way forward)
Comp, mix and master through headphones when I have time
I could do all of this fairly simply with hardware, and I kept reading about how much better software was, and I needed to save some space, and I wanted to be able to take projects with me to work on on long train journeys....
I'm trying out a new USB soundcard, M-Audio Pre USB; if that doesn't solve my problems I'm going to sell everything and either go back to hardware or try a Mac.
