Can anyone give me any information on day centres please ?
I want to know if possible where these places are, how many days they open, and what sort of things do they do?
Are there such places both for people with physically disabilities and for people with dementia, I have seen the council website, but I'd like to know if anyone's got personnel experiences both good or bad,
as I'm not sure if this is the way to go!

Social services would be the best place for advice I would have thought?

I went for an interview at one up at Shirecliffe Road last week, to work there voluntarily not be a resident, I ain't demented just yet.

They wanted me to take wheelchair bound clients all the way from Shirecliffe Road to the Tesco at Herries Road! Bloody miles that is! And pushing a Chariot sans 15 stone disabled person? Oh my aching back!

Sheffields day centres are set up in different categories, so you will need to be quite specifc about who would be needing to use it so that we can maybe point you in the right direction. Some are funded by social services and others are funded by yourself.

I work in day services but for adult mental health, but we're all part of Sheffield Care Trust so you could check the website www.sct.nhs.uk or I could find out a bit more about the older adults day services and PM you?
