Howdo.

Is there any way I can remove a HDD partition for free? As I'd rather not pay for Partition Magic, call me a cheapskate? I don't care! :P

Now, I could "acquire" PM by other means, but I was just wondering if there is any alternative to PM that is free?

Ta!

Reason: My brothers Laptop has like 3 partitions

BOOT (C: )
BACKUP (D: )
RECOVER (E: )

BOOT has Default OS as you'd expect, but BACKUP and RECOVER I'd like to remove and then re-partition to my own size, if you get me?

Paragon Partition manager is available for free, and is just as good as PM.

http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/downloads/2167398/paragon-partition-manager-2005

Completely free and legit.

You could look at installing XP via a usb stick - more info @ http://www.msfn.org/board/Install-XP-USB-f157.html or a cd drive in an external caddy via usb

In regards to resizing the partition there are a lot of free partition resizing tools available (see google) but some of them are not as straight forward as some of the more commercial ones such as Partition Magic.

Is there anyway I could install it with an iPod (Using as an external HDD) ? I do have a 1gb USB stick, just can't find the bugger!

Not sure if it would work tbh, I'm not entirely sure on the workings of an Ipod being a bootable device so will have to reserve judgement on that one but USB keys are that cheap nowadays that the cost of a USB key is considerably less than the cost of a replacement drive although if the laptop is worth it i'd suggest getting a replacement drive just for sake of ease of use (installing apps etc)

Well, it's only a Toshiba T9000 with some obvious wear and tear as it's got to be 3/4 years old now.

Pentium 3:
40GB HDD:
256MB RAM:
DVD/CD ROM:

Suppose if a HDD is cheap enough, then I'd get one, along with another Optical Drive.

Reading down the page would reveal the following sentence:

Ignore the ‘time limited demo’ reference on this page. To obtain your serial code, head to http://registration.paragon.ag/pm2005

Although that apparently doesn't work. I believe I have a user/pass for it, so PM me and I'll send you mine. It's free anyway, so I don't think I'm breaching any rules!

I saw the time limited demo part, I didn't think it would work, as I just couldn't access the download anyway.

PM sent btw. :)
