View Full Version : Totley Yard Sale - Sunday 6th April sweetiepie 14-03-2008, 06:24 Hi does anyone know when this event is on? I know it was on about April time last year and wondered if anyone knew the date? Thanks  SMK79 21-03-2008, 17:42 Hi it's on the 6th April starting at 10am and finishing at 2pm. sweetiepie 21-03-2008, 18:33 thankyou. i've seen it in tonights star. SMK79 21-03-2008, 18:37 On Sunday the 6th April, the resisdents of Totley are having another Yard Sale. There are normally a good number of households that get involved and there will be plenty of bargins to be had. The sale starts at 10am and finishes at 2pm. For a map of participating households will be available on the morning of the sale from 75 Westview Lane and other venders on the day. McLovin 21-03-2008, 18:45 Didn't know they had one before. Sounds like a good idea. Nice to see many of the residents participating. jenhoppy 23-03-2008, 16:47 Hi could anyone tell me roughly where Totley St is please and is there a bus that goes up there? Thanks SMK79 23-03-2008, 16:58 Hi Totley is an area of Sheffield, there are quite a few households participating at the table top and maps can be purchased on the day to let you know the locations of the houses that are on the sale. The last sale was a great success and roughly 30 houses were involved located all over Totley, so make sure you wear comfy shoes on the day if you plan to walk round. Although it is always a good idea to have transport at the ready incase you buy lots of bargains and need to get them home. There is the number 97 bus that you can get from town that will bring you into Totley and there will be signs up on the day to direct you. SugarPuff 23-03-2008, 20:43 Hi, how do you find out about taking part as a seller? SMK79 23-03-2008, 21:24 Hi, The sale starts at 10am and finishes at 2pm. For a map of participating households will be available on the morning of the sale from 75 Westview Lane and other venders on the day. I will know more nearer the time so I will add any additional info them. SugarPuff 27-03-2008, 16:46 I'd like to take part, who do I contact? SMK79 31-03-2008, 21:00 Just a reminder that The Totley Yard Sale is on this coming Sunday. It starts at 10am. Come and grab a bargain, loads of households are taking part. Number 97 bus. SMK79 31-03-2008, 21:02 Just a reminder that the Totley Yard Sale is taking part this Sunday. Starts 10am till 2pm. Keep your fingers crossed for some sunshine!! Ms Macbeth 31-03-2008, 21:09 MOD: Threads merged. hola22 01-04-2008, 07:38 Hiya Looking forward to hopefully coming and looking around. Any idea how many houses planning on taking part? Start at 10am.... does that mean buyers looking around or sellers setting up? Thanks! Hola SMK79 01-04-2008, 16:13 The selling starts at 10am. If a household is taking part then they can start setting up there stuff in time to start at 10am. There are many different houses taking part and they are positioned all around Totley. Maps can be bought from 75 Westview Lane, and other venders on the day. The map has the addresses of all the houses taking part and a route for people to walk or drive round. 75 Westview Lane would be a good place to start. If you have anymore questions then you can PM me. Thanks mmkq 03-04-2008, 00:13 If you want to take part in TOTLEY YARD SALE you either need to live in Totley or you can stand in one garden where there is a lot of room (more info on this when you phone or email). You will need to email jennie@hadish.f9.co.uk to say that you wish to take part and then you need to take £5 with your name and address to 16 The Grove Totley by Friday evening. Then you will be registered and your address (not name) will be on the list and map sold to vendors from 10.00 on the day. The money raised from the Sale will be used to organise Totley Festival in Greenoak Park, Totley on Sunday 22nd June - a day of environmental displays and activities, and lots of fun for all ages. SMK79 03-04-2008, 19:01 Totley Yard Sale on Sunday 6th April at 10am. Maps can also be bought at 13 Main Avenue. If you are travelling by bus then it is the number 97. Get off the stop before the terminus. Sale is at 10am till 2pm. mmkq 03-04-2008, 22:47 So far there are 50 sellers in the Totley Yard Sale, but more always come in at the last moment. Several people are selling things because they are downsizing. jenhoppy 05-04-2008, 00:09 Hi does anyone know how much the map costs please? Thanks SugarPuff 05-04-2008, 01:43 Maps are 50p, jenhoppy :) gempau 05-04-2008, 08:11 has anyone ever been to these before? just wondered how good the sale is? i would be looking to buy stuff for my little girl? is there ever many things for children i.e clothes toys? thanks a lot? Steptoad 05-04-2008, 21:49 Is there any chance that the yard sale will be cancelled due to the nasty weather that's been predicted? lisajaynec 05-04-2008, 22:07 Just tried to put in 75 westview lane for postcodesearch for sat nav and it dioesnt exsist according to royal mail-is this address right please mmkq 05-04-2008, 22:21 Of course Westview Lane exists, it's where someone lives!! It's been there many years. (Use maps rather than satnavs.) To get there, coming out of Sheffield along Abbeydale Road South, when you see Tesco Express on your right, Westview Lane and Westview Close are immediately opposite, on your left. Westview Lane runs over the railway bridge. lisajaynec 05-04-2008, 22:23 thank you will be there 2morrow mmkq 05-04-2008, 22:24 Totley Yard Sale won't be cancelled, whatever the weather. Totley people live on the edge of the moors, and we're made of sterner stuff! We ran Totley Festival on July 1st last year during the wet weather and were the only event in the city not to be cancelled that day because of the weather. 500 people turned up and had a great day. You'll miss the bargains if you don't come to Totley for the Yard Sale....... people will be selling everything including furniture. mmkq 05-04-2008, 22:27 There'll be lots of children's clothes and toys, because there are a lot of young families in Totley. It's like any car boot - it depends on who's selling what on the day, but look around and I reckon you'll find things you want. mmkq 06-04-2008, 06:48 The Yard Sale will not be deterred by the snow. Roofs and gardens may be white but the roads are all clear, so there is no problem driving around here in Totley. Even The Grove, which always seems to be the last for ice and snow to melt is completely clear. With the strong sunshine the snow on roofs may even have gone by the time the Sale starts at 10.00. But it will be cold, so wrap up warm. You can buy tea and coffee at 2 venues (maybe more) - 4 Mill Lane and 16 The Grove. hola22 06-04-2008, 07:25 thanks for the assurances it will not be cancelled. I am looking forward to a good hunt for bargains! It is lovey and sunny here in Barnsley with clear blue skies so hopefully the weather will come with us to Sheffield :) See you, Hola mmkq 06-04-2008, 07:51 yes beautiful blue skies here in Totley, with the backdrop of the moors it'll be a good day for bargain-hunting - with a difference! Kashul 06-04-2008, 11:11 Thanks to all of you in Totley, what a lovely crew you are, and I got some great bargains !! sweetiepie 06-04-2008, 13:53 What a fantastic day at Totley yard sale first one we've been to. We bought loads of items. Look forward to the next one there. Thankyou :) SMK79 06-04-2008, 16:45 Thanks to all the people that braved the cold winds today at the Totley Yard Sale. I think it was a great success. Thanks to everyone that came today. Zebra 06-04-2008, 17:17 We enjoyed it and got a few bits and pieces :) metalman 06-04-2008, 18:07 Yes, we had a good morning's walk around as well. Didn't buy a great deal overall but it was an enjoyable stroll in the sunshine - we were very fortunate with the weather considering what it's been like this afternoon. :) We did hear some people on The Grove discussing the forum and saying that they thought the turnout was better because people had seen it on here. SugarPuff 06-04-2008, 21:13 Aww I was going to have a stall but I wasn't able to at the last minute. I could have put a SF sign up in the garden and served free refreshments to forummers! Next year I'll deffo take part. Glad it seemed to go well, I'm sure that advertising it on the forum spread the word quickly, complimenting the other advertising used! Roll on next time! :D mmkq 06-04-2008, 22:46 Thanks for all your compliments about the Totley Yard Sale today. We are so happy about the Forum's ability to reach people, and that we provided a good event for everyone. We had people come from Barnsley (obviously not football fans!) and Rotherham, which we were delighted about. Both sellers and buyers seemed to have a great day, and yes, weren't we lucky with the weather! We will try to improve our map for next Sale as some found it hard to read. And for any Totleyites reading this, hope you take part next time - it's a great way to get to know neighbours. We'll start a new thread when we set a date for the next Totley Yard Sale. metalman 20-04-2009, 12:10 Is there going to be one of these this year, or have I missed it already? Hope not, as I really enjoyed it! And for anybody looking at the thread title, it was on the 6th of April last year. mmkq 21-04-2009, 21:42 Hello No we did not organise a Yard Sale this Spring. I expect to run another in October, so keep your eyes out on Sheffield Forum as I will of course post it there. metalman 22-04-2009, 11:20 Excellent. Thanks for the info. |
