Hi my mate got a free ps3 40 gb and tried to play ps2 games on it but apparently can only play them on the ps3 60 gb, anyone know of a way round it?

if you put a ps2 on top of the ps3 you can pretend to play em lol serously sony dont want you to play ps2 games anymore so there is no why that i know of that you can get them to play im not sure if it is posasble to use somesort of mod for the ps3 to play them. you should try some mod sites they will prob tell you if it is possable cant really tell you where to look as it maybe against the rules on here :)

It's not possible, they removed the legacy hardware responsible for backward compatibility from the 40GB model.
