Ernest and Cyril and Connie Crawshaw born in Crookes 1900`s Their mum in the Sheffield Star lived to be 101. Ernest played piano in a band until 21 then became a Plymouth Bretheren. The men were wire drawers and were so trustworthy they drew the precious metals into jewellers wire at Sheffield Smelting Company. Never knew nicer men than them.

When I was a young girl, my Grandma lived in Fairbarn Road and at the top of the road where it joined Stannigton Road was a little grocery shop run by (what I thought of then as) an old lady called Mrs Crawshaw - was she one of your relatives? It was a wonderful shop full of all your grocery needs - I can remember a huge barrel-shaped block of butter that she would cut half pound portions off and wrap it in grease-proof paper. There were tins of biscuits - the best deal was a pound of broken biscuits - and if you rummaged amongst them carefully you often find ones that were hardly broken at all!
